    Hi,
    Here is something I want to share with you regarding CITIBANK credit card. The issue is I lost the card, within one or two hourse before I noticed, it has been misused for large amount. I was not at all interested in taking this credit card. Due to repeated harassment over phone by marketing agents once I nod my head to take that. Even that time they told this card is free for one year, if you dont use it will be automatically cancelled. I did not believe these marketing people blindly, when card issuer called me for enquiry before issuing I told the same, I am not interested in taking this card, but I was told it is free for one year, and automatically cancelled if I dont use for 2 months. Those Citibank personnel also accepted these things and also about card security also they assured signature on the back side of the card is authentication. Then also I am not interested in taking the card. When those people sent me the card to my home, my roommates told I am not staying there. Then they sent that by courier to my office address. I did not use this card for 3 months. Then I got a statement saying I need to pay some 80/-. Again I called call centre people and asked to close the card. Again they repeated the above story, it was
    some mistake, no need to pay. Keep the card, it is secured, try for some more time. Later that 80/- also
    they deducted from my account without informing me.
    Then I used the card only once, soon after that I have lost the card. And it has been misused for 30000/- in jewellary shops. When I called CITIBANK people initially they told card has been blocked and picked
    up in some shop. Later when I call, they did not provide any information. They were simply saying we
    dont anything. Even they are not providing their address to give written compaliant, CITIBANK debit
    card section is answering phone calls saying their office is not there, you can talk them over phone, we
    can provide you phone number. Somehow after 1 or 2 days I got their address thru somebody, went there and I have given written complaint and got acknowledgement. But they did not provide any
    information about that and said over phone that I am liable and even not giving any details about picked up card.
    When I went to shop merchants, he was asking "how can you say that I did not verify the signature, do u have the card?" Then I went to consumer court in Bangalore first additional forum. The bank lawyer was coming there. Just simply for everything what is the proof he is asking in his affidavit.
    Bank people only told the card has been picked up in particular shop, and if they ask what is the proof.
    For the other things, card is free, will be automatically cancelled also he is asking what is the proof.
    Even they told over phone, and also in their terms and conditions it is clearly mentioned that "Sign on the backside of the card for mutual safety. Shop keeper should verify the signature when used for shopping." Now why should I pay money for these transactions. I came to know from many people that they are cheating people with these kind of fault promises. Unnecessarily deducting money from their savings accounts directly.
    Now what should I do, what should I argue with these lawyers. Tomorrow is argument in the court. Any
    suggestions will be appreciated. I took lot of pains in taking this matter to court. They are giving the
    cards forcibly and at the end they are saying we are not responsible for security, mainly regarding the
    security what should I argue. Now I want to make sure that in future no one should suffer from these banks again.
    Is there any way to take this matter to press? When they are asking for the proof, many people suffered
    from them, I want to take this matter to public and whomever have suffered they all can give their witness mentioning the misbehaviour of these banks. What should I do to do this?
    Please give your valuable suggestions at the earliest.

    I would like to point out Two point.

    1. Do you have Credit Card Photocopy? If you have you can proof the signature with charge slip which is provided by the shopkeeper otherwise it will be bank on your request or by court order because without charge slip bank can't be ask for payment.

    2. Second thing while you apply for the card you fill a form, in this form you made the signature which is in the bank record every transaction approval will be match with that signature (Some time bank say this is the responsibility of shopkeeper. But take the example of Cell phone bill payment or Subscription of
    Book there is only signature verification while make the payment). You ask the bank to provide my card apply Application where you have the signature which will not mach with charge slip. So ultimately the payment responsibility is only the Shopkeeper or Bank not your. (It may be possible the shopkeeper & another shopkeeper having some relation and they made this thing on mutual understanding
    basis.)
