    Default Hdfc woes

    In the span of last few months we have faced the wrath of HDFC Bank & Co. this includes the bank itself and supposed recovery agents.
    Let me narrate what game they played with us - despite repeated requests to HDFC for reversal on levies such as late charges, over-limit charges my wife’s credit card situation got into a mess (the customer care ex. promised reversal in next month after next month statement and it never happened) so this forced into a late payment situation after late payment. While we were still in touch with them despite harassment and call after call one fine day the bank suddenly freezed her savings (Salary account) being operated with HDFC bank and the realization came when she tried using her debit card at the petrol pump.
    This followed by a forced debit of Rs.5000/- from the account towards the credit card. (So my piece of advice to people having HDFC card plus HDFC savings/current/deposits account BEWARE whenever they want they will freeze it and retrieve your dues out of a blue)
    This followed a forced settlement
    Hereafter some bank executives proposed a settlement, the amount did not seem OK to us because so much of interest we had already paid or was rather forcibly collected that it should have been adjusted but nobody wanted o listen to us, some executive called on my wife’s cell phone, started shouting and abusing, she decided to switch off the phone, amazingly we do not know how this person got her direct landline number and found out that my wife maintains a Child account for our minor son, he said “Terey Abhishek ka to mein….abuses” shocking and scary it was…
    We got scared and surrendered to their threatening, agreed for whatever they wanted and now paying in installments (Fist already gone)
    Can somebody please guide us as to how do we cover our self for the insult and threat from such GOONDARAJ, we no doubt want to abide by the law that if we owe money to the bank we got to pay it back, but the method???

    Dear Sir,

    To sort out such kind of Banking complaints, you will have to send a written complaint to the Head Office of the concerned Bank and wait for the response for near 15 to 20 days. If the Bank fails to provide you any help in that time frame then you can send your written complaint to the RBIs Banking Ombudsman division. The address is:

    Default HDFC Credit card loan issue

    Dear Sir/Madam

    My wife has a valid HDFC credit. In early June, 2009, she received a call from a representative in HDFC bank offering a loan to pay a part of her credit card outstanding balance. He said that the loan is for one year tenure and can be deducted from her savings account in HDFC bank.

    She agreed for the same over the phone, the amount was transferred into her savings account in a week's time, and she transferred the money to her credit card accordingly.

    A week later, she used her credit card in a shopping outlet, and did not work.
    So she called the customer services team who informed that the card is blocked for that loan amount and will not work. The representative who caller her initially did not inform about any terms and conditions like this when the loan was offered.

    She then registered a complaint on phone, then by email as well, which took long delays of response from the bank. There were recovery agents who made threatening calls to her to pay the outstanding balance, which she refused as there was no appropriate response or actions taken to the complaint.

    She finally received a mail from the customer services team saying that they are sorry and are not ready to act as requested by her, which was pay her compensation for the fraud, threat and huiliation, further to avoid all additional charges, fees and activate her card.

    Please help us to take this matter further.

    Dear Mr. Mathew,

    Kindly send a written complaint to the Head Office of the Bank at following address and don't forget to take a photocopy of that letter before posting. Mention all your grievance in that letter and wait for 10-15 days for their response. The address is:
