I'm working for a big s/w company. They are playing with our lives and career by changing company policies to their whims and fancies. When I joined the policy said employees are eligible for promotion every 3 yrs. 2 years later it changed to 4 yrs for eligibility, the next year it changed to 5 yrs. They stopped all promotions and salary hikes in the name of recession for 2 years. Now they have opened promotions again but giving only to employees who have high recommendations. There is no policy followed nor there is any transparency. There are employees who are eligible for their 2nd promotion but still have not got their 1st promotion.

Also every year in the name of performance appraisal they forcefully push some % of employees in the poor performance category. Such appraisals are happening in a very biased fashion. Higher management people recommend some people to be awarded good performance rating. Middle managers are marking some employees who they don't like into poor performance category. None of our complaints are taken seriously and even if we do they again screw us the next time also. Sometimes employees are even getting sacked.

Literally we are treated as slaves. The HR people talk to us and treat us like beggars. We are threatened. There are employees who are getting paid less than half the pay they should be getting for their experience.

Please advice how we can deal with these problems.

I come to know all the problems which you are facing from so many years, It will really not going right it will be a serious issue, The company only taken your skills and for back they will step back to give appreciation, I thing you have to talk one to one from the owner of the company....
Hopefully you get some solution or be cleared all the things in front of him...
