    Question wrong Report by SRL Religare

    Hi,

    I am Ruhi Bhatia, from bangalore and i am 35 yrs old, last week i went for a health checkup package by Religare,SRL which included common tests like CBC,FBS,Urine Routine etc They charged me Rs 550/- for the same.When the report came , i found something wrong in my urine report, so i took it to my doctor, who was shocked to see the Urine report showing traces of blood and severe infection, since i had no symptoms, she asked me to repeat the tests at NM diagnostic. I spent another Rs 1000/- and repeated the Urine and also got a culture report done for any underlying infection. Today i got the report and all my tests are normal no infection at all..

    My question is;

    1) i had to spend so much money for no reason, just because of the clinics negligence and go thru extreme tension till my reports came.

    2) if my doctor would have not asked me to do retest's and started medication?

    3) What if it happened with someone old and already having certain other ailments,and doctor does not doubt the report?

    I want to take this up seriously, so that no one goes through such ordeal .

    kindly guide

    Ruhi Bhatia

    Default Answer from Super Religare Laboratories to Ruhi Bhatia's complaint

    We have once again reviewed the reports of Ms. Ruhi Bhatia, and have found nothing alarming in the urine report . We had reported Blood trace, RBCs –occasional,WBC-8-10 hpf ,leucocyte esterase ++.These report results are not abnormal for ladies of this age group. Her urine report does not qualify as ‘severe urinary tract infection” by any standards.

    Erythrocytes are found in small numbers (0-2 cels/hpf ) in normal urine. More than 3 is considered abnormal. A occasional RBCs detected in urine of person of this age profile is acceptable as RBCs are known to occur due to physiological states(menstrual contamination). The presence of RBCs and WBCs are also dependent on the hydration status of the patient while collecting the sample. Urinary WBC count greater than 30 cell/hpf is suggestive of Acute Infection, which was not the situation in case of Ms Ruhi.

    The reports and results have been discussed with Ms. Bhatia, by our Lab Head at Bangalore and properly explained to her. Ms Ruhi Bhatia has appreciated our response.

    At Super Religare Laboratories (SRL), we welcome patients queries and questions on lab tests and reports. We make sure that every report is duly checked by the doctor before handing it over to the patient. Servicing over 8 million patients every year, SRL is the most trusted lab with widest network and reach in the country.
