I had bought a Tata Photon + Hi-Speed Internet Access USB Modem and this is only my first month of usage. At the very outset I wasnt getting the speed that the sales people told me which was 1.2-1.4 mbps. So I called up Customer Care and made a complaint. The next day their engineer came and checked up the connection. He told me that the avg speed i will get is 500kbps and that the sales people dont know anything about the actual speeds. I even got a call from their head office in Pune stating that i was getting the right speed.
But whenever i checked the speed of the connection it rarely touched 350 kbps.
Still i tried the connection for some days and when it got really slow i complained again and again their engineer came to my place to check the system but this time he told me that i will get an average speed of 300-500kbps.
For a few hours i was getting around 350 kbps then again the speed went down.
I complained immediately and the customer care person told me that as my previous complained had been processed because of that i will get slow speed for some time.
I thought may be they will fix the problem but till now i am getting poor speeds.
Funny thing being when ever i complain the speed goes up and as soon as they resolve and leave my place the speed goes down again...
I am stuck with this connection as they r not gonna refund the money spent on the usb modem if i surrender it.

Dear Mr. Bhartia,
Pls. send a written complaint to the Nodal office of the Co. to get any help for your complaint. The Nodal officer will have to provide you solution within 10 days. Wait for the response for max. 10 days and do inform us about the response from him. The Email address is: nodalofficer.asm@tatatel.co.in

One more thing:
I had also made a post on the Tata Indicom Forum and I had also added screens of the speed tests showing poor speeds.
But it never got on the forum as every post goes through the moderators...

Today the engineer again came to my place and checked up the system...
I had done some speed tests before he came and found good speed. But i showed him the screens which i had saved showing low speed and he understood my problem.. but the people from the head office had no clue of why i was getting a fluctuation from 50kbps to 900kpbs.. so they told me to use the connection for 2 more days to see whether the problem persists...
So i will check it 2 more days and see if there is any improvement...

Sorry to bugg you, but could you help me ans few questions.
I live in New Delhi and have to go to Guwahati for 2-3 weeks.
How much surfing & download speed are you getting from Tata Photon+?
Is it good enough to just chat and check emails
or
we can do video chat and video streaming in addtion to above.
Also, how much time it took to get the USB drive modem activated after you
purchased it. Please, also suggest if I should buy it from New Delhi or Guwahati?

I have one more day to decide and don't have any other choice.
Coz Tata Photo is the one that works in Guwahati(Assam) and
Reliance clearly mentions theirs works only in 35 states n Assam
is not in the list.
Idea im not sure if it works too?
If you can tell me if Airtel or Vodfone USB modems works, mayb one
of ur friends have it.
It would be great if there was some1 renting out their USB Modems ;)

on Saturday (12.12.09) i conducted Miss.Hemalatha(04466661366) for get the usb broadband unlimited connection.She told me about the 130KBps speed connection in tata photon. i asked her, about the download & upload speed and demo also. she said to me, in the product gives full of the given speed (130 KBps) for download/upload also and no demo are give for this connection.i trust her speech.
on Monday she sent one person name is Mr.Selva(9566066109) to my place. he bought the product(Rs.2400/-) but he was not given the receipt to me. i asked him the receipt, he told to me to give later. he tried to install the product in my pc. but he dont know the processes.he couldn't make connection.Then he told me to take the product with him for trying to connect in his office.After that he didn't come back and not return the product & receipt and not proper response also. i called hemalatha to send the good technician person. but she didn't sent anyone. then i went to royapet office in person. i couldn't met hemalatha.but i met Gokila(leader)(9282123453) and explain my problem. she said to me tomorrow your amount will come to your place. but she didn't do any and no contact.Again i went to office for my problem, i met Mr.Vijaykumar(9283333986). i explained him everything, he told me to return the amount in the same day evening but he also not follow as what he said to me.After a long try, Friday(18.12.09) only, Mr.bala(9150401257) return the product to me in my place.
19.12.09 evening only , Mr.Vijay(9282189716) came to my place and make connection with my pc. we checked the download/upload speed,but it is (4 to 5 Kbps) only.it is nothing use to me.
For my project affairs, i bought the connection.in this much of download/upload speed will not help me any of the way.Miss.Hemalatha given me the false information about the product. it is not choose to my requirements.So prevent me from the loss of Rs.2400/-. i already met the loss of the project for this one week delay happened by (Selva,Gokila,Hemalatha). So please take your product & return the amount as earliest.
Please try to consider/think,

Useless of download/upload speed (4 - 5Kbps).
demo not shown to me.((Miss.Vijayashanthi(9282109189)floor manager told me,the demo is available for this product)).

I am a photon plus user in Guwahati and the average download speed I get is paltry 5-10 kbps, the customer care service in guwahati is very poor as well. I am myself thinking about shifting to another Internet service provider. The tata indicom towers are not working properly as I have heard from various sources, I think BSNL and rajdhani are providing good internet service.

With respect to all my mails earlier written from the date of problem till now has not been answered & also attached error.zip for the proof of the problem.
Problems Unanswered:
1.From the date of purchase problems have been unanswered.
2.Except given verbal commitment of improvement of service once your engineer came to my office and said that here network is weak you can use this device at other place / at home ?
3.I have proofs of your weak service & since it was given free first two months you took us to granted .
4.Now you have started sending legal notices and inspite being sorry for your poory services you are waiving Rs. 600/- for all your nonsence product.
5.I request to give me back my money spend Rs. 4250 /- less your outstanding as your poor product is of no use for me also. trust of Tata has been broken because you want to do R&D on us.
6.If you want to go legal Boss you would be in problem and all the correspondence herewith would be dragged and since you want to take customer for ride lets face this also.
7.First for your poor service & than your legal letters.
8.If I donot receive serious reply for this within seven working days I would be forced to expose the same to media and other users who would have kept quite because of tactis.
Your immediate steps would be highly appreciated. I would be happy if you take back your faulty product from me as discussed in point no 5 above and release me from your net.

Hello Sirs, It is kindly requested to plz take action on our complaints. As we are fed up with the tata photon service. Sorry to say if our problem is not solved within 3 days we will surrender our equipment. we feel bad to be a client of tata group were the customer is not treated and served at all. NO THANKS

I had taken a Tata Indicom Photon+ net connection in the 1st week of March. I reside at I.C.Colony, Borivali(w) & have not been able to use the connection as the Tata Indicom network tower has not come up in that area and the network speed is pathetic. It take 10 mins for me to get the Rediff mainpage. It is one of the fastest pages to get uploaded in the internet world.
I have visited Tata Indicom Kandivli office 4 times and have registered a complaint for the same. My connection is been suspended now, without me been intimated abt it. It is been 2 months now, nor am i able to access the net nor is the money getting refunded nor is the network tower been rectified.
I have requested for a refund as I need to have a net connection at home for carrying out the office work & I cannot wait for your network tower work to get completed for me to start using the net connection.
Request you to refund my amount of 2,200 & close the matter.
