Airtel - Nightmarish experience. Airtel provides a good service when things are well. But once they make a mistake of their own things only go down hill and as a consumer you will be punished for no fault of your from there on.
It all started in September 2011
I was a happy customer for 4 years (2007-2011) until one day I got an unexpectedly large bill and as a coincidence I was also moved to a lower speed.
Contacted Airtel about the speed, they had no clue who put me on the lower speed. Fought with a range of tickets (6544042 is the master ticket for this issue).
Eventually gave up on this issue and said ok i'll live with it.
The billing issue I couldn't just give up and pay because its a big amount. Essentially instead of the 2 Thousand I should be paying per the bill plan, I was billed 8000+.
I raised complaint for this. 6374860
It went on forever with follow up calls and tickets and then escalations to the Apellate.
You would normally count on a department that calls itself the Apellate. but not with Airtel. I kept getting the same templated responses with all the kind words except the resolution.
Finally I was to leave India for a while so I opened another ticket 6544912 - I had insisted all through that I wanted it sorted before I left the premises so that the person moving in wouldn't curse me for all the mess.
All I demanded was a corrected bill so that I can pay up and leave. No heed from Airtel.
While I was waiting for this corrected amount. I started getting threating emails from Airtel that a court case will be filed from one of its collection services partner.
They were simply disinterested. I owed Airtel money I either pay up or face the court that's all their word was.
Eventually they filed a consumer case while Appelate kept saying they are still looking into my complaint.
The Lok Adalat Notice.

This is to inform you that there is an outstanding of Rs 8652 /- towards your airtel Dell number 08041721414_kk with a/c # 12922395 . The payment has been not received for the same till date. Hence the case has been moved to our soliciaters and a Lok adalat notice has been initiated on.23th April 2012 at the Court Deputy Registrar, 2nd Floor, annex side building, City civil Court Complex, Behind Cauvery Bhavan, Bangalore – 09 On 23rd April . between : 11.30 am to 3.30 pm for amicable settlement of the above mentioned acount. The notice has been despatched to your billing address. Hence request you to take the notice and appear in the court on the above mentioned date. Please Ignore the mail if the payment is made. Note : Please do not reply on this e-mail. For further communication, For any further clarification pls reply to, contact Ms Rekha on 9902496703
I once again followed up with Airtel and 14053632 was the new complaint number.
All that I am now asking is that this case be taken back and that I will pay up the amount.
Airtel says pay up first and we'll 'look into it'. Atrocious!!
How can it be fair when all faults on Airtel clearly but the case is filed against me?? They are refusing to take this back and allow me the time to pay up.
Even if it is simple enough to just pay up first I can't put that blind faith in them after all this.
Imagine.. I will lose the only carrot I have in hand to force them to do the right thing. And all this while I am still getting 'couldn't care less' style template emails from Appellate.

Airtel Broadband filing a legal case against after charging me with false bill Today I received a mail from <Collections.v@airtelmail.in> asking me to pay my outstanding bill as soon as possible. Furthermore the mail says that
"The payment has been not received for the same till date. Hence the case
has been moved to our solicitors and a Lok adalat notice has been initiated
on 28th June 2012 at The Deputy Registrar, Mayo Hall Court Complex near MG
Road Bangalore – 01 on 28th June. Between: 11 am to 4 pm for amicable
settlement of the above mentioned account."
I will like to mention here that I have requested airtel many times to disconnect my connection. I got a mail from airtel that the connection will be disconnected in next 7 days but still the connection was active for more than a month and now I am being asked to pay for a service which I did not use.
I got many calls and threatening mails to make the payment else legal action will be taken and every time I requested for a correct bill and I was told that my request is under process and will be resolved shortly and now all of the sudden you ask me to appear in the court.
First of all I want a reply to my mails requesting for correct bill and also an answer why my connection was not disconnected after 7 days of my request as promised by airtel.
Is this the way your customer relationship works? By not replying to customer queries just giving them system generated mails that request is under process and then filing a case against them on their back ?

URGENT: Harassment by Airtel; Legal Case filed Dear Sir,
This is Mudit Gupta and I was an Airtel Customer. Through this letter I hope to inform you about the sad condition of how your company is treating its customers and how your company is harassing customers and trying to extort their hard earned money.
I started availing Airtel’s service in September 2010 when I applied for a Broadband connection. The account number 16011359 was assigned to me. In April 2011 I came to know of the IPTV offering in Bangalore and I applied for the same via customer enrollment form number 231595 and selected “Magic 1299” plan which as per your website is iptv + landline + 1Mbps Unlimited internet. The iptv was installed on 7/4/2011 but even after contacting customer service number of times the landline was never installed. I left the hope of the landline being installed and continued to use iptv and broadband.
For the first 3 months I received the correct bills but it was in Aug 2011 when I received a bill of RS. 1907 which was about Rs. 400 more than the correct amount. I contacted customer service and requested to correct the discrepancy in my bill. The reference number for the request was 3678160. For this month, I paid the amount which was supposed to be there on the bill i.e. approx. Rs. 1500 and I waited and hoped that this error would be corrected. I started receiving calls everyday from Airtel’s collection agents that I have not paid the full amount and to pay the remaining amount. Every time, I patiently explained the agents of the situation, the error on the bill and every time their reply was they will look in to it but the very next day a new person would call me and to my utter he would have no idea about the conversation I had with the collection agent from the previous day.
In the mean time, I received the next month’s bill and I was literally blown apart by seeing that this bill was approx. Rs. 6700 more than the amount payable for Magic 1299. I called the customer service again and gave them the reference number for earlier request, 3678160. I was informed that the request was closed without any action. I requested them to reopen the request and called back in a few days to check the status. The request was closed again without any action. I have had enough by this time due to the continuing harassing calls from collection agents for over 2 month and inability of Airtel customer service to resolve my billing errors. I went to Airtel’s service center near Jayadeva Flyover in Bangalore and submitted a disconnection request clearly mentioning the reasons.
The harassing calls never stopped but about a week later I received a call from one of the Airtel’s executive apologizing about the error and requesting me to not to cancel the connection. I informed the person as I am leaving India I will not be able to continue the service but if he is able to rectify the error in the bill and sends me a correct bill I will transfer the connection to my hometown. He agreed and promised to do this though I never received a corrected bill and neither the connection was discontinued but the collection agent calls continued. So, I disconnected the equipment and informed the local sales office/agent. I moved to Zurich in October 2011 and my Indian mobile phone was disconnected. The collection agents started calling on the alternate phone number listed on the connection, which belongs to my room mate, Mr. Rupam Das in India. Rupam was kind enough to explain the collection agents every time they called. Last month the matter was transferred to your legal department and they threatened to sue us if we didn’t pay. I called them and told them about the errors in the billing. But they didn’t pay any heed to it and filed a case against me, PLC 158524, with a hearing on 28th of September 2012 and they tell me that I have Rs 17000 pending.I called on the number(9900182518) from which I received the legal notice intimation the lady on the phone started blaming me that I should have filed a disconnection request when I tried to explain that I had actually filed a disconnection request she made a very rude comment and hung up.
Over this course I have tried to contact your appellate authority and the nodal officer several times but have never received a response from them.
As I am currently in USA I am unable to attend this hearing. I write this letter in hope that you or someone from your company will be able to help me out. I believe I have Rs. 1500 pending till the date I requested disconnection which I will gladly pay, provided Airtel serves me the correct bill. But let me be very clear I am not afraid of the Airtel’s tactics and if this matter is not resolved before 28th of September 2012 and the case is not withdrawn I will not be afraid to legally pursue Airtel by pressing criminal charges of extortion and harassment.
Please see in the bill that I have been charged on per kB basis in spite of the unlimited connection as per the welcome mail and enrollment form. My representative will be presenting the same in the case.

Worst Customer Care Service by Bharti Airtel Broadband Services Dear Sir/Madam,
With reference to Reg no:08060360227 and account no:7005579468
I am writing this mail with sheer frustration and anger towards the customer service being provided by airtel broadband services. Leave customer satisfaction, atleast a basic right of an individual is also failed due to the bad service by the bharti airtel company.
Let me describe the whole thing in detail what I have faced with airtel connection.
I had applied for broadband connection and a company's repressentative ( contact no: 9845259254 ) had visited my home i.e on 24/3/12 during which I filled up customer enrollment form and paid 1000rs as Advance for Max10gb 2mbps connection and he assured me that the connection will be activated within a week, which they fulfilled. Later as per the person billing cycle is 11th of month to 12th of next month. And so he told me that I will be getting bill only before 11th may 2012. But what happened is I didnt receive any bills from the company neither Hard copy or Soft copy. I had called them many times on their customer care 198 number and requested them to send the bill, and even after that they didnt send me. Later I was really frustrated and angry with customer care, I decided for disconnection of services. To be noted two requests regarding disconnection was sent to airtel. DETAILS OF THE COMPLAINTS: Ref no:08060360227_kk is 17362004 on 18/6/2012 and next day again with Ref no: 08040978067 is 17433224 on 19/06/2012. Previously also I had complained on 12th June 2012 for disconnection. So after all these they told that they will do the needful. And so I had to pay a month's bill keeping in mind. But I didnot receive the bill at all even after June 2012. Again I had called customer service desk for the bill and I found few things very interesting, a Blunder of mistakes by Airtel people.
Following are the mistakes done by them:
1) I had registered my email ID as saikiran_16488@yahoo.co.in but when I called them for bill they told me that email Id registered is saikiran_16488@yahoo.com due to which I didnt get bill which is a huge mistake done by them. I can enclose the carbon customer enrollment form which was given to me as acknowledgement by the company person where it is clearly written as yahoo.co.in and not yahoo.com. Due to their mistakes why is the consumer been put into trouble.
2) I had given my address pin as 560001 whereas they have written it as 560003. which can again been seen in the form which clearly written. I came to know about this only after several requests made to be sending into my ID and atlast I got bill infact bills only on 2nd July 2012 wherein even after disconnection they have shown a huge payment as of 1st July 2012 as 1,708/- which was really shocking to me.
3) Airtel people also send me within 3days of usage saying that high speed 2mbps is finished and comes back to 256kbps even though we do not download any movies, huge files etc which is again one more point of dissatisfaction and shows that they are simply cutting down the speed without any reason.
And another thing is after the due date they bill extra of 100rs which is also incorrect as I didnot receive bills as of 1st July 2012 also.
Once I received a call from Airtel customer care and they informed me to make payment of 2232rs which was again shocking to me. I had told them that I will be paying only a month's bill which is reasonable, which is again I should not do because of their mistake but I thought let me pay whatever is reasonable.
But now I got an SMS saying Case registered in city civil court Lokadalat PLC 22-9-12 which is again frustrating to me.
I would like to inform them that it is their fault and I have not received bills. How can I pay and why should I pay such a huge amount. I want Justice in this case.
