    Angry Pathetic Airtel Broadband

    I have been using my connection from October, 2010. 3 months back I shifted to another place within the city. I requested to shift the connection to my new address. It took Airtel almost a month to shift the connection. After shifting I got a call from Airtel for confirmation. They asked me about the plan I want. I told them that I wanted to stick to the same plan. After a month my connection was suspended for not paying bills. I always used to pay the bills online through netbanking on using my credit card. Airtel was then doing SYSTEM UPGRADE. Everyday I used to receive calls asking for bill payment. I said, once the online payment option is enabled, I would do the payment. This continued for almost a month, because they said, within some date this issue is getting resolved and I could make the online payment. Finally one day, they suspended my connection without any notification. I had to go to their office and make the payment - no other option.


    Now after that billing cycle, I received a bill of Rs. 9667 for one month. When I called up customer care, they raised a complaint for this (which is the best they can do). I was also told that, I was using some limited plan of 8 gb. In my entire life, I have never ever used any limited broadband plan, may it be airtel, tata indicom, reliance, tata photon plus or Tikona. I am still wondering, how on earth some limited plan has been activated for my connection. Besides, I was never asked for any confirmation about changing my plan. I would have never changed my plan for the previous plan that I had been using for 6/7 months was just fine for me. After that, Every time I call customer care with the reference number, either they use to disconnect or keep me on hold for 15/20 minutes. I mailed nodal officer regarding the issue finding the pathetic customer service over phone. All the time I received a acknowledgement mail saying the matter would be resolved in 72 working hours. Today, it has been almost 4 weeks. Finally I had to raise a request for termination of the connection. After being on hold for a long time, when I could reach some customer care executive before transferring the call to the concerned department, I had to explain all these things, and finally say that this is the reason (which I had to repeat in disconnection department as well) I want my connection to be terminated. Yesterday, I received another payment notification of Rs. 20109. I also received a call asking for payment of Rs. 9667. I said that I have some billing issue and for that I have already raised a request which is yet to be resolved. Then she told me that she would get back to me in 5 minutes after talking to her senior. Undoubtedly, there was no response afterwards. I had no other way to seek Airtel's attention to this matter than posting in here.

    My airtel landline no. is 40148464. Airtel had disconnected my broadband & landline connection on January 2011. He wanted me to migrate to a higher data plan from my 512kbps one. I didn't , so he reduced my download speed to an unusable 2-3KB/s and then shut down my connection on January 2011. My connection has been disconnected ever since and Airtel still keeps sending me bills. From January to August they kept on calling me on my mobile twice and thrice daily asking me to pay the bills of the months which they disconnection my connection. They harrased my on my mobile asking me to pay the bills of the months in which they disconnected my connection. On 21st August 2011 , I got a call from Airtel saying that they are ready to re-activate my connection if I select a higher Broadband plan. Airtel also agreed to waive my outstanding which I have never used since they disconnection on January 2011. They sent their employee on 23rd August , I filled out a form , selected a Downloader 20gb plan worth Rs.1099 , 1mbps till first 20gb and 512kpbs post data transfer limit Unlimited connection. Airtel said that their engineer would visit my house and reconnect my re-activate my broadband and landline within 2 working days and I haven't heard from Airtel ever since , 15 days have passed . All I got yesterday was an Airtel Bill despite of Airtel promising me to waive my outstanding bill from January 2011 - the month from which they have disconnected my connection !. Oh and on a side note one of their bill recovery boys had told me that airtel does this to all customers and that Airtel will not re-activate my connection. I am a member of the Mumbai Grahak Panchayat and my Registered no. is F - 7000 .

    The issue is still open. On the day, I posted in this forum one person gave me a call and said that, he would resolve the same in a day or so. He said that he would change the plan to some unlimited plan and give waiver to my bill. I agreed to that and after 3/4 days, I received a call from him. I was told that he was going to change the plan and called me for confirmation. On asking about the waiver amount he said that he would get back to me after talking to his senior and undoubtedly I am still waiting. I have been continuously pinged by AIRTEL for bill payment through sms and mail. I tried calling nodal officer and I was kept on hold for nearly 7 minutes and then was told by IVR that, all nodal officers are busy, call after sometime. This is repeated for several times. I am being harassed by AIRTEL.

    I have sent the below mail to the nodal officers. Hope they respond.






    "Hi,

    Let me say it again. I have been using airtel broadband from October 2010. In the month of June 2011, I shifted to another place within the city. It took a long time for airtel to shift the connection. Finally one day the shifting was done. At the time of shifting one person called me up and asked me about the plan I want. I wanted to continue with the same plan which I was using previously, that is, 1099 plan: 1 MBPS up to 15 GB. The next month I got a a bill of Rs. 9067. Upon asking customer care people I came to know that I was using some 2 MBPS LIMITED plan which I never opted for. Instantly I raised a complaint about it (which is under processing for the last two months). I have talked to Mr. Javed (+91-8553666034) and he told me that he would change my plan to 1299: 2 MBPS up to 30 GB which is not yet done for the last two months. Then Mr. Javed gave me the reference of Mr. Khaleel (+91-9845079710) who told me that he would change the plan to 1299 immediately and offer me waiver on the bill which of course never came to effect. He also said that, I had to make payment based on the old plan for the months I was facing the problem. Then the next month I got a bill of nearly Rs. 20000. I talked to all nodal officers and the two persons mentioned above without getting any positive response. So I had to request for termination of my connection. I have written to nodal officers, and that effort too went in vain. For the last two months I have been replied by nodal officers saying that the issue would be solved in 3 working days. So many '3 working days' have passed and now I know that neither my connection would be terminated nor there would be any resolution to my problem. Hence, I AM NOT GOING TO TAKE ANY LIABILITY OF THE ISSUE IN FUTURE. Now the bill amount is nearly Rs. 40000 and after calling Mr. Javed and Mr. Khaleel (who reply to calls very rarely) I am not getting any positive response.



    A few more points to mention: I myself had requested for plan change nearly a month ago because the plan is what I am getting huge bills for. No doubt, the request is still under process. This mail is to make you inform that I would be using some other ISP from a day or two and the liability of terminating the connection is upon you. I am not going to shoot any mail to either you or any customer care people. Also, I am tired of being in hold for long durations (10/15 minutes, many a times up to 20 mins) while calling customer care number or nodal officer number without getting answered finally. By the way the outgoing on my land line number has been scrapped and I cannot make any call, even to the customer care people. Now for me, I am not going to contact them as well after contacting them (on non-toll free number) from my cell phone for hundreds of times, without getting the things resolved.
