    Angry Airtel - Faulty Billing, Irresponsible Customer Service - False promises



    Dear Sir

    It seems like my nightmares with Airtel are not ending. Earlier I faced a major problem in the shifting of my connection from Delhi to Bangalore and now it is faulty billing.

    My connection was shifted from Delhi to Bangalore and finally installed on 22nd June 2011. But the installation was not proper and the final corrected installation was done on 30th June 2011 when I also got a call from the Airtel call center confirming the same. During the course of correction of connection, Airtel engineers visited my place and made repeated calls using my phone line.

    Now when I got the bill for the period 11/6 to 10/7, there are mistakes in the bill

    1. PC Secure charges of Rs 85 are charged to my account whereas PC Secure was promised free of charge to me as my plan is Turbo 10 GB - Rs 1099 plan.
    2. The monthly plan charges have been charged from 22/6 instead of from 30/6 (when my connection was activated). Hence 8 days of extra billing is wrongly charged - Rs 293.07
    3. Phone call charges of Rs 26.31 is charged while I have not made any phone calls. These were probably the calls that were made by the Airtel engineers using my phone.


    In all Rs 404.38 (85+293.07+26.31) plus taxes is charged extra to my account wrongly. I consider this faulty billing and complained regarding this at the 198 helpline.

    My first complaint was on 8th Aug and was given the complaint no. 1968928 and promised that someone will call me by 9th Aug for resolution. No one called me and when I called again on 10th Aug, I was given one more complaint no. 2105728 (Mr Shivkumar) and again promised that someone would call me the next day for resolution.

    Again no one called me the next day. I called again on 11th Aug and Mr Deena told me that he has opened my complaint again and that someone would call me.

    Tired of all this, I spoke to the Floor Manager today (12th Aug) after 4 repeated calls and disconnections by the airtel customer care executives and holding the line for more than 1 hour. I managed to speak with Floor Manager, Mr Hari finally and he promised that someone would call me within half hour regarding the resolution.

    No one has yet called and I am totally frustrated with following up with irresponsible, unaccountable and callous airtel customer care executives.

    I want to know why is Airtel not resolving my problem. How much harrassment do you want your customers to face, before you will respond?

    Please solve my problem. The due date on the bill is 16th Aug.

    Mr Ranga,

    Is it resolved in my favor or against it? I have no information.
    I am yet to see the effect in the bill and no one has called to confirm that the wrong billing amount has been reversed.
    It is very strange to see that you people can close the complaint without even informing the customer !

    My airtel landline no. is 40148464. Airtel had disconnected my broadband & landline connection on January 2011. He wanted me to migrate to a higher data plan from my 512kbps one. I didn't , so he reduced my download speed to an unusable 2-3KB/s and then shut down my connection on January 2011. My connection has been disconnected ever since and Airtel still keeps sending me bills. From January to August they kept on calling me on my mobile twice and thrice daily asking me to pay the bills of the months which they disconnection my connection. They harrased my on my mobile asking me to pay the bills of the months in which they disconnected my connection. On 21st August 2011 , I got a call from Airtel saying that they are ready to re-activate my connection if I select a higher Broadband plan. Airtel also agreed to waive my outstanding which I have never used since they disconnection on January 2011. They sent their employee on 23rd August , I filled out a form , selected a Downloader 20gb plan worth Rs.1099 , 1mbps till first 20gb and 512kpbs post data transfer limit Unlimited connection. Airtel said that their engineer would visit my house and reconnect my re-activate my broadband and landline within 2 working days and I haven't heard from Airtel ever since , 15 days have passed . All I got yesterday was an Airtel Bill despite of Airtel promising me to waive my outstanding bill from January 2011 - the month from which they have disconnected my connection !. Oh and on a side note one of their bill recovery boys had told me that airtel does this to all customers and that Airtel will not re-activate my connection.
    I am a member of the Mumbai Grahak Panchayat and my Registered no. is F - 7000 .
