I recently took Ortel connection in Bhubaneswar and had pathetic experience. I took the connection of 512kbps for 650/- /month with 3GB download limit. but my speed usually stays at 260-280 kbps and with frequent disconnections.

Their customer care service do not respond even after 10 calls in 10 days. After couple of requests when I charged them that why they are so unprofessional and lying they gave me the reason that their job is to register the complaint and its technical department's duty to respond. And one of the executive told me that speed is upto 512kbps not full 512 kbps. Does it mean that I'll get max half speed of what I'm paying for? I asked couple of other ex Ortel broadband users who also eventually disconnected their service after frustration of bad service told me that I've to visit their office which is at one end of the city otherwise they don’t respond.
I've to travel >12KM (RMRC, Chandrashekarpur in a remote street). Even when I visit their office they made me to contact one person after another. They behave very unprofessionally and said the other department is responsible for this and he/she is nowhere responsible for the issue. When I contacted the technical department, Mr Laksmikant (not sure about his name's spelling) told me that they didn't get any request for service so far.
Mr Prabhanjan Samantray the sales executive (lead) don't even bother to respond properly and showed height of unprofessional-ism. He told please contact the service department even it was a sales issue and left his seat immediately. I wish no one will ever need to deal with him. On forcing him to answer the sales fault he said to contact Mr Rajendra Nayak who sold the service to me. If the higher official is not responsible for the deeds of his subordinates I don't understand why he is positioned in the higher seat. The concerned sales person Mr Rajendra Nayak also left no stone unturned to cheat and telling vague stories about their customer care. While selling he also told that I can get a modem on exchange of my old modem and also rest Rs 500/- for installation will be waved off as mine is new laptop (I didn't have a bill of the laptop but he said it'll will not be problem for the waver).
So while taking the connection I got a modem in exchange of my old modem and rest of installation amount was discounted due to new laptop. (Note : total installation charge - 1250/- , for which 500/- is for installation and rest for modem).
Now for disconnecting they claim to return the new modem and when I ask for my old modem they gave multiple useless reasons and at last they said it is as per their policy. And if I need to disconnect I've to return the modem.

I heard similar feedback from other Ortel users. So if you are planning for an Ortel connection give a second thought.

Any help to solve this issue to get back my old modem would be a great help to me and will be a big lesson to the Ortel cheaters.
