    Thumbs down Airtel broadband - A horrible experience

    I am using Airtel broadband (8 Mbps connection) for the last four years. Recently I have faced an issue with Airtel services which has been a horrible experience so far.

    On 21st July I had my broadband speed drop suddenly without warning. From a 8 Mbps speed it dropped to a mere 150 Kbps. So I had called the customer care dept. and they logged a service request (SR#: 49134586). On 23rd July an engineer named Rakesh came down around 1 pm to check the problem. He could not rectify it and said he would get back to me by 5 pm the same day. When he did not get back I called him around 5:30 and he had been cutting my calls. Finally when he picked up around 7 pm he said the problem will be resolved by midnight. Unfortunately it did not.

    On Sunday when I called customer care again they said the service request had been closed as the engineer put his comments that he changed some wire at my place (which he did not) and 'clearing my browser cookies solved the problem' which is a blatant lie as had it been so simple I would not have been on my toes. Anyway I asked them to reopen the case and have someone visit my place to check the problem and no one turned up on Sunday.

    Today, on Monday, I called again in the morning and they said they would send someone at my place for sure on a priority basis. At noon when no one arrived I called Rakesh again and he referred me to another person Vivek and asked me to speak to him. He too promised that it will be done and did nothing. After sometime I received a call from Airtel, someone named Alok said he would send an engineer by 8 pm and as usual no one turned up.

    This is highly frustrating. All my work is pending since the last 4 days, I had been calling Airtel like crazy for a resolution and they treated it as a casual joke. I have written to the nodal officer, the appellate officer, I tried calling them both (both the times I was on hold for around 10 mins and nothing happened). Honestly, if after Rs. 3500 a month this is the type of service I receive I would be more than happy to switch over to another ISP, I am sure no other service, how bad they may be, can not be worse than Airtel's.

    Default Airtel postpaid connection

    on 20/10/11 i have taken airtel postpaid no.9686992293 and have been using it for week and all of sudden on2/11/11 it got disconnected .When i called customer care i was told that due to security verification it has suspended whereas security verification was done on my no. 24/10/11 by airtel executive by meeting me in personal.even i went to airtel relationship center near jayadeva regarding but what i was astonished after seeing mismanagement at the outlet nobody was willing to listen,when asked they told me dial 121 and we cannot do anything,this what they did after making me wait for half and hour.The worst customer service i have ever seen,Will never recommend airtel to anyone hereafter,and will never use it in future.

    Default Waiting forever for getting my connection shifted

    Hi ,

    I had requested for a shift of my airtel broadband connection on July 26th and am writing this after completely giving up on their customer service. I cannot understand why companies expand into so many domains without being able to service existing customers.
    My latest complaint number is 7325738 and it has been 3 months of following up with new compaint numbers since.

    They have a perplexingly long menu for navigation to broad band customer care , which you need to wade through each time you want to talk to a rep. 1 in four attempts of talking to the rep will be successful as the call gets dropped at least 3/4 times.
    I live in the middle of Bangalore city Shanti nagar ( 3 kms from MG road) and unfortunately
    1) they they dont support shiting of connection in my area
    2) I dont get signal on my Airtel mobile
    3) my airtel D2H stops working with the slightest drizzle.

    But of course this is about my broad band connection that hasnt been shifted for three months. They took a month to tell me they dont support my area and kept me waiting until then.The second month i kept asking for cancellation and i would get a call saying they will shift it. The third month is again about me waiting for shifting. Hopefully putting this on a online forum will help.
