    I am seeing a speed of 2-3 kbps, its ridiculously low!!! After calling up the customer and numerous troubleshooting steps, I was told by their network team who even visited my house, that the speed cant be improved at this location.

    On asking for a refund, they plainly refuse saying there is no such policy -- reference 4952282, when spoken with Premnath, a custromer care executive.

    I saw an earlier complaint here from rajhans and he is told to pay his pending bill, before they proceed troubleshooting they isssue. Sir, in my case this connection is not even 1 month old and before generating the bills, I hope either they resolve the issue or take back the product.

    More over i am very frustrated with their service. The customer knows only one thing - they are just trained to say your issue with low speed will be resolved in 24 hours.

    As per your complaint, we have confirmed from our technical department that Photon+ coverage is not available in your area and as you have purchased the connection in Hyderabad and trying to use the same in non coverage area of Mumbai, our technical department is helpless in this regard.

    We regret to inform you that as per company’s policy the refund cannot be processed. Please be informed that the device can be used in coverage areas.

    What is a coverage area? Are customers made aware of this clause when they are made to purchase the product. If an area within 20kms radius from Thane City in Mumbai is termed out of coverage, how can you then guarantee the customer a speed of atleast 1mps in any part of country. Moreover I was told that the Roaming wont have an affect and does it matter from where I purchased the product? Even at the time of purchase of this product, the sales reprsentative called your department to check the strength and assured me full working of the product at atleast the 1mps with CDMA coverage. When i am getting a speed of 3kbps, this is dirt!!! I need a resolution to the issue

    As you mentioned that you have already registered your complaint with the TATA Photon customer care but still not get any response, so we suggest you to send a written notice to the Nodal Officer via email or registered post, mention all the details in it and ask them for the proper solution with in the mentioned time in the notice, wait for their response and revert us back.
    Note: Keep all the copy of Complaint, Notice and the registered post slip, this may help you if you need to knock the consumer forum.

    1) Please refer the email pasted below, which was send yesterday to the NodalOffice Mumbai(nodalofficer.mum@tatatel.co.in) and for which there is no response even after 24 hours
    2) In spite of repeated reminders and calls, I still don’t have any resolution to the issue and most importantly I am not getting any email response or callbacks from your department.
    The issue mentioned by me to your department is that of too slow a connection, a speed of <3kbps when the product mentions 3mbps. Even if I am under a CDMA coverage area a speed of <3kbps is beyond anyone’s use. I am suffering tremendous mental agony since 28th of june,2010 because of the frequent calls to your customer care without any proper progress towards a resolution

    I am providing you a time of 15 days to settle this grievance either by providing a full refund with suitable interest (12%), or a resolution of the slow speed issue, else I will be filing a complaint with the Consumer Forum as I am protected under the Consumer Protection Act of 1986.

    I would also like to Inform you that the complaint to consumer courts will be at your cost and expenses, and I will seek compensation for the mental agony caused due to deficiency in services.

    On 22nd of June, 2010 I took a Postpaid Photon connection from Hyderabad and the connection was accordingly activated. However since 26th of June, when I started using the product in Mumbai, I am seeing a speed of 2-3 kbps, its ridiculously slow!!! After calling up the customer care and numerous troubleshooting steps, I was told by their network team who even visited my house, that the speed can’t be improved at this location (Mumbra, Near Thane City of Mumbai Pin 400612)

    I was made to believe that the speed will be more than 1mps even under a CDMA coverage area. The sales executive who sold the product checked with your department and mentioned that I will be under CDMA coverage area.

    However with the speed of 2-3kbps, I am not able to use the product. Even to download a 5MB file, I will have to keep my laptop switch on for hours.
    Certainly no customer will ever accept such a low speed.
    It is more than 2 weeks and the customer care department is not able to solve the issue. A few days back, I have send an email to the National Service Head online and they mentioned that the issue will be resolved by 5th of July, 2010. This just remains a promise and I am still having a slow speed connection.

    When I now call the customer care department(1-800-266121), they mention the case is still open and I will get a call from the Network team. Even when the network team mentioned that they are helpless (docket no 226752743)
    At one time I was told that I have to call the Hyderabad customer care at 09246000121 (note this is not a toll free no. from My vodafone connection), who simply mentioned that I am outside coverage area!!! (ref.4952292 customer care executive: Premnath). This person don’t have any information to define coverage area. Moreover what is a coverage area? Are customers made aware of this clause when they are made to purchase the product. If an area within 20kms radius from Thane City in Mumbai is termed out of coverage, how can you then guarantee the customer a speed of atleast 1mps in any part of country.

    I then called up the Nodal office (022-65102309) and the customer care person took down my details but I don’t have a resolution yet.

    I am not able to browse and am seeing a speed of 2-3kbps with photon device. I paid 2500 for this product and am subscribed for the 2GB/750per month scheme. what use is the product when I am not able to make use of the product. since 28nd of June I am running after your customer service without any resolution.

    What am I expected to do now? Can I expect a proper solution to this issue

    Welcome to the story of the great customer service that I have got from your company I spend thousand rupees a month. on recharge for connectivity. To comment on your services, It would be understatement to say government agency provides far better follow up and services in modern days (2010).

    1. Your call centre training departments needs to be shut down and all trainers fired. They like basics like empathy, proper product knowledge and willingness to resolve. The access to information is also limited.Every single person who picks up the call confidently says that your service is not working cause of zero core balance & after speaking to people from Chandigarh and from Gujarat call centre they say that there is no such process that exist in tata photon.
    Now the story starts here. I am in Virar since last few days.
    A. July 5th my net connection stopped working, I called up 1800266121,( i had approx 3000 mb) balance in my account. The person informed that your core balance has got used and u need at least two rupees balance in that so please go and recharge with some dealer as you cannot do it online.
    B. July 6th I go to local recharge store they cannot as the recharge was not accepted. I follow up and the person(1800266121) says that you do a recharge of atleast Rs 10/- Why don't you go to gujarat or send some body there so you can do the recharge or go to TATA Indicom centre and do it.( I had two mobiles lost a Nokia 5230) new mobile in a heated conversation).
    C. I visit the Tata indicom (Virar)centre. The Mr rude says that (let me try) if the Rs 10 recharge works. after few minutes he says you have to do atleast Rs 50, I said fine then he comes back and says not its atleast Rs 100/- I agree. ( Ridiculous) Anyways he says your recharge is accepted and the connection will start in 3 hours. I also told them that the speed is ridiculous and then they followed up and said you would not get connection as we do not provide modems there but atleast 256 kpbs you should get and refused to take complain. On my insistence she took a complain for network.
    Eureka The connection works.
    D It stops working again and again every day with error code 678 and 721.for few minutes or hours. One night I dont remember the date it did not work at all, So I called 1800266121

    Part 2 story starts here.

    I call up the person he says that zero core balance and your connection would not work. I asked him I did a recharge of Rs 100/- how did it get over. Prompt came a confident answer
    " It is our company policy" I asked when I have some much balance why did my core balance get used as my validity period as well as mb balance is intact. prompt came reply,
    " It is our company policy" He lacked common sense or may be did not have any. I asked for a supervisor. He came he said there is no option you have to recharge or you can call the nodal officer we cant do anything." It is our company policy". Both of them did not have an answer why my core balance got used. Finally he said you talk to my supervisor. He came was a nice person and a good actor with less product knowledge, he acknowledged that your core balance should not have been used, But its midnight and your issue will be resolved early morning and your connection will start. He assures some one from his team will call up. Morning no call received but connection started working.

    Part three. I called up Nodal office number it takes minimum 10 to 15 minutes before it is picked up. I got kural on phone, she partially understood the issue, said for some Rs 100 recharge is not seen in our system so will resolve the issue in 24 hrs.She marked emails for network as well as core balance issue.

    B 24 hrs gone . I call up after 15 minutes wait I get kural on phone. I told her no feedback no call, She said she is surprised that I did not receive a call and assured that I will get a feedback.

    C Another 24 hrs gone... two 15minutes call get disconnected, get Kural on the third call, Her response was that since your connection is from Gujarat, you will have to follow up with them, I told when I have done a recharge from Maharashtra and not getting a network in Maharashtra, Why should I follow up with Gujarat??. Some political party will be happy for this state divides. After insistence she advised me to go to the centre and again recharge or take a refund. I insisted that since my money is with your company follow up and get the needful done so my connection atleast works. After some arguments I told her that whatever the situation is you do not have rights to discontinue my service. Realising the situation she transferred to samit. He was a nice guy, he said he will follow up with the area manager and you may not need to go there and will call me and update. I received a call back from him also. After some time I received a call from Virar tata that they cannot do the recharge so please collect the money. I told them to try once more else I will collect the money. Meanwhile I contacted friends in Baroda and sent them for recharge, They tried for three hours in different outlets and finally went to the OP road outlet where I purchased the device and made a Rs 50 recharge. It is not showing up in the system another loss of Rs 50/-

    Meanwhile I went to the Virar outlet for refund. I collected the money and they explained the reason that they were unable to call on the registered number and got Mumbai number today. Anyways they did not use zero for dialling a gujarat number, By now no complains on common sense. I got my refund did some docomo recharges asked for Gujarat number for follow up as thought now I need to talk with some one in Gujarat. I came home tried the number it was a Maharashtra number, another fiasco..

    Part 4 . Meanwhile my connection used to work and get disconnected. One of this days I called and enquired about the network issue and some weird person with very poor communication skill picked up the phone he said the complain is resolved from our end and you need to reinstall, he did not know what I need to reinstall? He tried to help me create profile, he was very irritating person and while talking my net got connected so I just disconnected as I did not have energy for another supervisor calls.
    I called up again to get the Gujarat number. I got a female on call she gave me number ending 121 Fiasco I tried could not get connected. then I called back got another number the person apologized that I got a wrong number from the previous rep and gave me the number, which I tried for two three days, I got finally Chitra on phone and obviously the systems were down, I asked for Gujarat nodal officer number, she insisted that they will resolve my problem once net is connected and assured a call back in two hours. The call never came. I called two three times,one more good observation, No.1 We have to key the number before talking again they ask you for the number fine till here, But the height of stupidity is that they are trained to ask, after verifying, (Are you a tata customer) weird.. Anyways after calling for few times I got some one with systems working and it turned out to be a postpaid number, where in the IVR will ask postpaid or prepaid Fiasco continues. The caller insisted to call back on 1800266121, I refused and then he transferred to prepaid. I was lucky to get a person with a very good communication skills and profession. His name is Sanish. he explained that you cannot do a recharge cause no such policy exists neither they have a recharge option for core balance and made note of my complain. Only existing sensible person in TATA.

    I also received a call from Ahemadabad number enquiring on the network. He mentioned that he is able to see my network active in nashik. I explained I had been three three months before and then I also realized that I was in Shirdi.(Kahan sa aya that woh, yeh network ka jhoka,kahan mein use dhundu)Meanwhile I had lodged an online complain, my net is working now, but on Sunday I was assured a call back as well as a visit by engineer which is yet to take place and speed still remains a problem while I write it is showing 0 kpbs .

    What about the compensation for?

    1. Days without connectivity.
    2. My numerous phone calls.
    3 My travel expense for trying to recharge on a non existing option.
    3. MY mental agony and torture I went through.

    On a side note i hear that tata photon got an award for speed from NDTV.GOD SAVE CONSUMERS

The Mr rude says that (let me try) if the Rs 10 recharge works. after few minutes he says you have to do atleast Rs 50, I said fine then he comes back and says not its atleast Rs 100/- I agree. ( Ridiculous) Anyways he says your recharge is accepted and the connection will start in 3 hours. I also told them that the speed is ridiculous and then they followed up and said you would not get connection as we do not provide modems there but atleast 256 kpbs you should get and refused to take complain. On my insistence she took a complain for network.
    Eureka The connection works.
    D It stops working again and again every day with error code 678 and 721.for few minutes or hours. One night I dont remember the date it did not work at all, So I called 1800266121

    Part 2 story starts here.

    I call up the person he says that zero core balance and your connection would not work. I asked him I did a recharge of Rs 100/- how did it get over. Prompt came a confident answer
    " It is our company policy" I asked when I have some much balance why did my core balance get used as my validity period as well as mb balance is intact. prompt came reply,
    " It is our company policy" He lacked common sense or may be did not have any. I asked for a supervisor. He came he said there is no option you have to recharge or you can call the nodal officer we cant do anything." It is our company policy". Both of them did not have an answer why my core balance got used. Finally he said you talk to my supervisor. He came was a nice person and a good actor with less product knowledge, he acknowledged that your core balance should not have been used, But its midnight and your issue will be resolved early morning and your connection will start. He assures some one from his team will call up. Morning no call received but connection started working.

    Part three. I called up Nodal office number it takes minimum 10 to 15 minutes before it is picked up. I got kural on phone, she partially understood the issue, said for some Rs 100 recharge is not seen in our system so will resolve the issue in 24 hrs.She marked emails for network as well as core balance issue.

    B 24 hrs gone . I call up after 15 minutes wait I get kural on phone. I told her no feedback no call, She said she is surprised that I did not receive a call and assured that I will get a feedback.

    C Another 24 hrs gone... two 15minutes call get disconnected, get Kural on the third call, Her response was that since your connection is from Gujarat, you will have to follow up with them, I told when I have done a recharge from Maharashtra and not getting a network in Maharashtra, Why should I follow up with Gujarat??. Some political party will be happy for this state divides. After insistence she advised me to go to the centre and again recharge or take a refund. I insisted that since my money is with your company follow up and get the needful done so my connection atleast works. After some arguments I told her that whatever the situation is you do not have rights to discontinue my service. Realising the situation she transferred to samit. He was a nice guy, he said he will follow up with the area manager and you may not need to go there and will call me and update. I received a call back from him also. After some time I received a call from Virar tata that they cannot do the recharge so please collect the money. I told them to try once more else I will collect the money. Meanwhile I contacted friends in Baroda and sent them for recharge, They tried for three hours in different outlets and finally went to the OP road outlet where I purchased the device and made a Rs 50 recharge. It is not showing up in the system another loss of Rs 50/-

    Meanwhile I went to the Virar outlet for refund. I collected the money and they explained the reason that they were unable to call on the registered number and got Mumbai number today. Anyways they did not use zero for dialling a gujarat number, By now no complains on common sense. I got my refund did some docomo recharges asked for Gujarat number for follow up as thought now I need to talk with some one in Gujarat. I came home tried the number it was a Maharashtra number, another fiasco..

    Part 4 . Meanwhile my connection used to work and get disconnected. One of this days I called and enquired about the network issue and some weird person with very poor communication skill picked up the phone he said the complain is resolved from our end and you need to reinstall, he did not know what I need to reinstall? He tried to help me create profile, he was very irritating person and while talking my net got connected so I just disconnected as I did not have energy for another supervisor calls.
    I called up again to get the Gujarat number. I got a female on call she gave me number ending 121 Fiasco I tried could not get connected. then I called back got another number the person apologized that I got a wrong number from the previous rep and gave me the number, which I tried for two three days, I got finally Chitra on phone and obviously the systems were down, I asked for Gujarat nodal officer number, she insisted that they will resolve my problem once net is connected and assured a call back in two hours. The call never came. I called two three times,one more good observation, No.1 We have to key the number before talking again they ask you for the number fine till here, But the height of stupidity is that they are trained to ask, after verifying, (Are you a tata customer) weird.. Anyways after calling for few times I got some one with systems working and it turned out to be a postpaid number, where in the IVR will ask postpaid or prepaid Fiasco continues. The caller insisted to call back on 1800266121, I refused and then he transferred to prepaid. I was lucky to get a person with a very good communication skills and profession. His name is Sanish. he explained that you cannot do a recharge cause no such policy exists neither they have a recharge option for core balance and made note of my complain. Only existing sensible person in TATA.

    I also received a call from Ahemadabad number enquiring on the network. He mentioned that he is able to see my network active in nashik. I explained I had been three three months before and then I also realized that I was in Shirdi.(Kahan sa aya that woh, yeh network ka jhoka,kahan mein use dhundu)Meanwhile I had lodged an online complain, my net is working now, but on Sunday I was assured a call back as well as a visit by engineer which is yet to take place and speed still remains a problem while I write it is showing 0 kpbs .

    What about the compensation for?

    1. Days without connectivity.
    2. My numerous phone calls.
    3 My travel expense for trying to recharge on a non existing option.
    3. MY mental agony and torture I went through.

    On a side note i hear that tata photon got an award for speed from NDTV.GOD SAVE CONSUMERS

    i m using this photon plus connection almost from four months the speed was good earlier but now a days it is too slow whenever u want to a page it shows internet explorer can not display the page.
    having a download speed of 2 to 3 kbps
    its horrible man i m paying for speed and not getting its really sad
    when u complaint to tata executives they say ur problem will be resolved in 24 hours but there 24 hour never come.
    please help me.

    I am a Tata Photon Plus customer since the very beginning of its launch and was getting speeds of more than 1.5mpbs which was very good and I was quite happy but since last couple of weeks the speeds have dropped drastically. I get speed sof 2-3 kbps and when I contacted Tata Customer care they executive tells me that as per co. policy he cant note my complaint as I am getting speed of 300kbps and as per their rules the speed can vary from 300kbps to 3.1mbps.

    I got wild and sent a message to their MD email id for which I got the following reply...
