We have been using the anti virus pack PC Secure of Airtel Broad Band Services for our PC & Laptop for quite some time & did not face much of a problem .
But of late the virus data bank server was not getting connected to our PC/Laptop for updation of the virus definitions whenever the system was operated after a brief shut down of 3- 4 days.
The matter was reported to the Airtel customer support/nodal officer for necessary attention & redressal as per a copy of the e-mail appended below:-

Dear Sir,
We are using your Airtel PC Secure Basic Pack (Annual Subscription) on our PC/Notebook unit, one each.
Due to cessation of usage on account of various reasons the Pack is @ times not updated for a few days .
However on resumption of the usage the Pack is not updated due to repeated failure of attempts to hook up to the updating server.
In such an instance the whole pack has to be reinstalled which takes nohing less than 2 Hrs.
Can you please look in to this problem so that the Airtel PC Secure Basic Pack is automatically updated after the connection to the server is established?

To our dismay & shock it was reported to us on 15/06/2010 by the company that the anti virus packs had been deactivated as they were not in a position to provide the desired level of service as per our expectations.
On being contacted we were also told that the relevant refund for the unused period would be adjusted in our bills.
Now this unilateral ,arbitrary and disruptive action on part of th nodal officer is a cause of concern as it amounted to sudden withdrawal of the services provided by the company without any prior intimation & information.
I would therefore recommend to other user's of anti virus PC Secure pack also to immediately request the company for deactivation of the pack & switch over to other packs available @ a much cheaper price of Rs 400-500/-for single PC/Laptop for 1 year usage because one never knows as to when this
company could resort to such discontinuation of services in the event of a genuine customer complaint
on the pretext that they would not be in a position to provide the desired level of service.
