Hello,

I was duped into purchasing Reliance NetConnect HSD service at my new residence in Baner, Pune by a Reliance salesperson. However, when I moved to the area in Oct 2009, I found that the connection speed wasn't anywhere even vaguely close to what they had promised (they said ~ 1Mbps and I would struggle to even touch 100kbps most of the time).

For the longest time after raising the complaint, they kept resolving it saying it's a technical issue and I need to download some "bandwidth enhancement software" to fix the matter. I kept telling them that the problem is with the coverage in the area because I did get good speed in other parts of the town.

Ultimately, on one of the many hour-long service calls, a Reliance customer support supervisor figured that Reliance did not "officially" provide HSD coverage at my address. Wow! I had been quite a fool to even buy into their sales pitches.

I wrote several emails to the Nodal Officer for Pune about this and also to the appellate authority. I also forwarded those to a Reliance recovery agency person who promised to personally follow-up with the appropriate people. But till this date there has been no response or action on this whatsoever. I have wondered what sense of moral responsibility and even basic customer ethic these people carry.

My expectation is simple - Reliance should not charge me Rs. 1000 p.m. (the data plan rate I was originally duped into buying) for a service that it does not even officially offer at my residence address. Since I do a lot of my work out of home, it was critical for me to get good bandwidth and I had made that amply clear to the Salesperson. As of today, the Rs. 4000/- odd broadband modem lies carrying dust and my service has been deactivated by Reliance.

Please guide me on how to escalate this matter further.
Thanks,
Manish
