I have been a proud Tata broadband user for past 1.5 years and used to recommend people about it, but since last six months I am having a nightmare with their services. Tata's services has taken a big fall, their customer care is the most pathetic I have ever seen. People with IQ less than 50 I guess and the capability to irritate you to the core. Following are the issues I witnessed with them.
1. Limit on UNLIMITED Plan: When I took the connection, I was mentioned that it was an unlimited download plan. During the first month of my usage, I got a call that I am about to reach my upper limit of download and I should upgrade to higher plan. On explaining that I have an unlimited plan, I came to know that TATA has a fair usage policy according to which there is an upper limit on all plans and no such plan is unlimited. 1st instance of cheating: Not telling about the policy at the time of taking up the connection. Issue not resolved, had to put a check on my speed to limit the download. Accepting the policy, but seriously disgusted with the dirty tactic used.
2. Charging for Static IP: The installer came to my house and told that I can have static IPs for different PCs for free. I was happy with the offer and took static IPs. 5 months later TATA charges me Rs 2000 plus taxes for Static IP. On raising the issue N number of times, banging heads with customer care callers for hours and days, issue finally resolved.
3. THE BIGIE, The big fraud and CHEAP act : While taking the Tata connection, the contact person Mr. Madhunendra (from Pune), gave me an offer of paying up for 4 months in advance and having the 5th month free, I was impressed with the offer and paid for 4 months. The payment was done on 27th July and my connection started hence, as per the offer I was not due to pay anything till 27th December. Till the end of 4th month, except the two above issues, it was fine. On 1st Dec I see a bill of 1820 (Charges for one month). On being amazed I called up the customer care and asked for an explanation, this is where the funny story beings. The customer care at that moment tells me that it’s an error in their application and it will be reverted at the end of month of December, on believing their word I accepted. Still I used to get reminder calls every alternate day to pay up the bill, when it told I caller it’s already been discussed I used to get responses like "That is with complaint department, this is billing department, pay the bill first". I used to ask them do u have any communication within you or not, they used to reply shamelessly "No".
Now to my Horror, on 1st Jan I see a bill of 3640 (charges for 2 months), when raising the issue, I get to hear a brand new story, that the offer is not applicable to my connection as the offer was valid on connections starting from 1st of Aug, i.e. 3 days after my connection started. This was something really pathetic on their part, I tried to contact the person who came to my house for the connection, but again a surprise, his phone was deactivated. Then began a sequence of endless calls and emails from my side to customer care, 90% of them were not answered and rest 10% used to take 30mins at least to understand the issue again. It was getting way to irritating for me to explain the issue again and again when I used to call. I was getting constant reminder calls from TATA for paying I bill, which I obv. Refused to pay. I raised to issue to the nodal officer also, but she was also not of any help. The best part was, they accepted that it was a fault, I asked them few questions which they were not able to answer and still shamelessly asking me to pay the bill.
1. Why would I pay for 4 months in advance for a postpaid connection?
2. How did the salesman knew abt the offer in July when it was due to start in Aug?
3. Why a change in TATA's statements in December and Jan?
4. Why not contacting the person who came to my house with the offer?
5. Accepting that there is an issue, then why asking me to pay the bill?
Also, when I used to get on their nerves for the issue, they used to give me reasons like you have already been reverted 2000 earlier so why asking now, acting like I should be thankful that they did that much bid. Pathetic is the word for TATA people, their attitude is going down the lane like anything. I knew that Reliance used to use such tactics of fooling customers but never expected this from TATA.
Current status is my connection has been disabled for not paying the bill and no one is answering from TATA end for this issue. They just repeat the old saying of paying the bill. Even after giving them the threat of consumer court, they behaved like goons and replied in a tone like, 'Do what you feel like, we are not bothered'. Seriously SICK attitude. Someone please help me in this regard.
