Complaint: ICICI bank has revealed my personal( passport # , moile, my office address, my designation ) to recovery agents who are harassing me for no reason.


Description: last week ( 18th jan 2012 ) I got a call from 918043409000 and the person on the line told me that he was from dtdc courier. He told me that I got a package from amway and there is one more package for Suresh ( name has been changed due to confidentiality ) and he wants to talk to Suresh.
I told him that I don't know any Suresh but asked him to deliver my package to me office mail desk. Then he told me that both the packages are tied. And on his package also my mobile number was given as contact. And he told me that Suresh also works for my company and suggested me to search his name to know the contact information. I told him that I was not at desk that moment and asked him to call me later.
Next day evening he called me again.And straight away asked for Suresh's phone number. The I searched for Suresh in my office db and gave him Suresh's(searched with full name as he told me ) direct desk number. Then he insisted me for his mobile number. I told him that I can not have access to personal information and even if I have access to personal info I can not share it with others as it is a information security violation.
Then he started talking for his mobile number with demanding tone. The call got disconnected. But that raised doubts in me and I suspected if he is really form dtdc courier.
Next time he called me again and demanded Suresh's mobile number ( he was thinking that I knew Suresh because I gave his office desk number ). I told him that I don't know Suresh and asked him to deliver my courier. He argued that he cant deliver package unless he speak to Suresh.
That time my colleague took over the phone and asked him whats the matter. He asked my colleague if he is Suresh and then revealed that he is from ICICI bank and the call is regarding ICICI bank personal loan recovery.)
Form there on he called me many time and harassed me with provocative language. At one time he gave phone to some other person who threatened me saying he is from mumbai police department and harassed me for Suresh's contact information.
On friday when he called me last time he threatened me that he is waiting out side of my office and asked me to come out. In that call he told me that Suresh has given my mobile number when he took personal loan.
That was the incident. Now my personal information (including passport number which I have submitted while account opening) has been compromised so I will ask my hr people for change of my salary account.
Below points made me believe that ICICI bank misused my personal information.
* The person is working for ICICI personal loan recovery.
* At one point in conversation he told me that he know one principal engineer in my company and he would complain to him on me.
This makes me believe that he know my companies internal designations ( I am being a sr. Software engineer and principal engineer is next level designation in my company ).
ICICI bank salary account opening forms capture our designation.
* He revealed my passport information correctly and tried to threaten me as mumbai police department is behind him.
I have submitted passport xerox as identity proof to ICICI while opening salary account.
* Initially when he called as a dtdc courier person he told me my office address correctly. And he only suggested my to search for Suresh's contact information in my company employee database.
* Today I called my ICICI relationship manager and when I told him that ICICI bank revealed my perosonal information to third party, he told me that ICICI stopped giving recovery process to third party.
But when I told him that the person is 'working for' ICICI personal loan recovery, he said if he works for ICICI bank he has access to all my personal information. And he told me that it is a possibility that Suresh would have given my name and mobile has reference while taking personal loan.
But .. at first place I don't know who this Suresh is..and even if he gave my number and name as reference he would not be knowing my passport number so only ICICI bank has used information submitted to it. And secondly ICICI people would have called me and asked me before giving him personal loan.
During this incident I have gone through lot of mental tension that I could not concentrate work and could not sleep well during last three days.
So request you to help me in taking necessary action on ICICI. Bank.
