Hello everyone,
My name is Anshul Das, i work in patni computer systems, pune. Last year in June 2008, an HSBC official offered me a credit card life time free. so i took this credit card. In Dec 2008 i got a call from recovery department that my card has been deactivated due no use, but bank has not closed it as bank has purchased a policy of Rs 6299. so they asked me pay this amount for final close to which i responded that i was never informed about this policy purchase. But they kept arguing and misbehaving with me to pay the amount to close the case.
I talked to customer care of HSBC regarding same to which they said that my card is not getting closed due to policy purchase by bank & i have talk to recovery department for any assistance. I many times tried pune's recovery no. to which no body ever picked the phone up.
Again last week i got call from recovery department to pay the amount urgently else my name will go to civil & no bank will give me any financial help regarding loans etc. so I clearly told them that i was never informed or told about purchase of any policies & never any documents were send. He told that will signing the documents for the credit the official might have cheated & taken my signatures on the policy purchase agreement also. Later he started saying that i might have torned & thrown those documents which company sent me.
As i was not aware of consumer forum i agreed to give settlement amount Rs 3000 to them by cheque to get the clerance letter from bank regarding for any further help from other banks. This week they asked to pay it urgently through cash & not cheque & told that
i told to pay by cash.
one of friend told me that its clear act of cheating a customer & i should directly go to consumer court.
I need assistance from consumer court as they are continuously calling in busy office hours & misbehaving with me.
I have question if bank can really send a name to civil for the fraud which bank itself has done.
