Respected Sir/Madam,

I have one HDFC account (SB-01841000101185) at the branch CMH road Indira Nagar. My brother has salary a/c with this bank. One executive from HDFC approached my brother saying that any of his family member can get a/c by his reference and that person can maintain zero balance. so my brother asked me if am interested I can open the a/c. when I communicated with the executive, they said its zero balance a/c. Only thing is I have to maintain only 10000 for first 3 months, that too only once. So I prfered to open the a/c. For more than one year I had zero balance in that (surprising thing is that the a/c was still open, actually the a/c should go dormant if no transaction is made for 3 months). In last march 2011, I deposited 7000 (approx) into the account. On April 7th, 6000 rupees (approx) got deducted without any intimation/warning. When I asked this to the bank they said its family account where all those who come under this a/c type should maintain 40000 of AQB (average quarter balance), where this was never communicated by the executive in the beginning of a/c opening, in fact they said its zero balance a/c, as my brother has salary account so I can maintain zero balance. when they said I can maintain zero balance then only I thought of opening of a/c and I did. Later after my money got deducted they explained about this AQB and the reason for deducting the amount. I trusted HDFC and this is the result of it. Why do HDFC cheat like this, why dont they explain the advantages and disadvantages of the a/c type in the beginning. I went to the Indira nagar branch there they promised me of returning one quarter amount (around 1600) and will put forward to the higher authority to refund complete amount. Till now no reply, its difficult for me to visit the bank as it is 17 Km away from my place. if am not maintaining the AQB ( which is very unknown to me being a/c holder), then why dont they follow up us by any means, we have emails, sms, phones. By this they can speak to us and make sure that we are maintaining the AQB. Please help me in this regard and please help me to get my money back from HDFC.
