    Default Charges deducted without informing about the change in minimum QAB

    I have savings account in ICICI Bank, Brabourne Road Branch, Kolkata.

    When I opened my savings account with ICICI Bank in 2003, my minimum Quarterly Available Balance (QAB) was Rs.5000/- (Rupees Five Thousand Only). ICICI Bank never informed me about the increase in minimum QAB from Rs.5000/- to Rs.10000/- (which I came to know only while calling to ICICI Bank Customer Care today).

    Without informing me anything on this increase in minimum QAB, they are deducting money for QAB Charges in every quarter from Oct-2008.

    When I called ICICI Bank Customer Care, they were reluctant to take my complaint that ICICI Bank never informed me about this change in minimum QAB and also did not take my request of giving me back the amount deducted for QAB charges in every quarter since Oct-2008.

    I think ICICI Bank is doing fraud with their customers and unnecessarily harassing the customers on the fault for which ICICI Bank is only responsible.

    I want to get all the money deducted from my ICICI Bank Account because of this QAB Charges as ICICI Bank never told me or informed me in any letter about this increase in minimum QAB.

    If required, I would produce the details of my account and proof of evidence about this and ready to take this matter to Consumer Court.

    I have the same problem as mention by buddhadeb ji..

    I have opened a bank account in REWARI branch on ZERO balance basis and I am using it from one year suddenly they have charge RS.826 FOR QAB charges.

    ICICI Bank never informed me bout the increase in minimum QAB from Rs.5000/- to Rs.10000/- (which I came to know only while calling to ICICI Bank Customer Care today).

    Without informing me anything on this increase in minimum QAB, they are deducting money for QAB Charges from Oct-2009.

    ICICI Bank is doing fraud with their customers and unnecessarily harassing the customers on the fault for which ICICI Bank is only responsible and also wasting our time.

    I want to get all the money deducted from my ICICI Bank Account because of this QAB Charges as ICICI Bank never told me or informed me in any letter about this increase in minimum QAB.

    If required, I would produce the details of my account and proof of evidence about this and ready to take this matter to Consumer Court.

    Question QAB charges deducted without informing

    The same thing also happened with my account (000401023641) in ICICI bank, details of which are emailed to care@icicibank.com

    Apart from the personal details, here's a the rest of email I sent to them :

    Recently when I checked my account status, the bank has dedcuted Rs 827/- twice (for diff quarters) from my account against QAB. As far as I know, the QAB required by bank was Rs 5000/- which was already present in account. In case QAB was later changed by the bank, I was never informed of the same. I have received no communication from ICICI bank regarding the changes. This is bank's fault which needs to be corrected.

    Request you kindly register this complaint and revert back the QAB charges. In case, the bank is not able to respond or act on this email, I'll be compelled to approach RBI Ombudsman and have to register this complaint in consumer court against the bank.

    Hope to see the bank acting in the interest of the a/c holder as soon as possible.

    My name is manoj kumar garg and my account number was 016301537737. I opened my savings account with ICICI Bank in 2005 at bathinda (punjab) then my minimum Quarterly available balance (QAB) was Rs.5000/- (Rupees Five Thousand Only). Then suddenly ICICI Bank increased minimum QAB from Rs.5000/- to Rs.10000/- and never informed me about the increase in minimum QAB which i came to know when i visited icici bank.

    Without informing me anything on this increase in minimum QAB, they are deducting money for QAB Charges in every quarter from Oct-2008.

    When I called ICICI Bank Customer Care, they were reluctant to take my complaint that ICICI Bank never informed me about this change in minimum QAB and also did not take my request of giving me back the amount deducted for QAB charges in every quarter since Oct-2008. I gave my phone number, address to bank when i opened the account still then the bank did not inform me about the increase in QAB even through sms or call or letter. I went and talked to bank manager and told him that I would maintain my account after my money got refunded but he refused. So I was forced to close my account.

    disclaimer:I am not an expert on this.still let note what i feel.

    I have came across many of these "new generation Banks" such unethical practices.

    You may write a registered letter to the bank demanding the refund of excess amount deducted from your account,stating that you intend to raise a consumer case under "unfair trade practice",if you donot get the refund.

    wait 2 to 3 weeks for their response,if the response is negative file a consumer complaint.

    My name is Abhishek I am writing this today not just to share my experience but also expose fraudulent practices being carried out by the Bank.
    I have a joint savings account with my father (Mr.Madhusudan Das) in ICICI Bank, Brabourne Road Branch, Kolkata. Account No.627601508243.When I opened my savings account with ICICI Bank, my minimum QAB was Rs.5000/- (Rupees Five Thousand Only).So I have been maintaining near about Rs6000/- as minimum balance from the very first day. ICICI Bank never informed me about the increase in minimum QAB from Rs.5000/- to Rs.10000/- (which I came to know this by sms send by the ICICI Bank stated that your account balance is 0 please contact the bank. after receiving the sms .My father went to the bank to get the account statement as the bank does not send them by post or e-mail not even single time).

    Without informing me anything on this increase in minimum QAB, they are deducting money for QAB Charges in every quarter from Oct-2008.Questions arises here, if I’m not informed about the change in policy of minimum QAB from Rs.5000/- to Rs.10000/- through courier letters or e-mails or even not by sms then what is the fault of us?let me assume that some miscommunication may happen once but is it possible the same miscommunications happens 6-7 times.(before deducting money in every quarter) how does I received sms of 0 balance,not the sms of change in rule of QAB???

    Exclamation QAB charges due to increase in minimum balance !

    This is Harshit Khaitan, and I currently hold an Savings Bank account (Ac no 627701502426) with ICICI bank at Vivekananda road, Kolkata.

    When I opened this account, I was told that the minimum quarterly balance in this account is Rs. 5000. I have not been actively using this account for the past 3 years, and assumed that my money in "Savings Bank Ac" is safe by default. My balance was more than Rs. 5000, but I have been told that ICICI bank took the liberty to raise the avg minimum balance to Rs.10000. I was not informed of the same.

    My question to ICICI bank
    1) Isn't it is possible to keep my money in ICICI and have peace of mind that my money is safe , and will not be stolen by a change in policy at ICICI ?
    2) Why am I not informed of such changes , before you debit money from my account ? How do I receive marketing calls from ICICI , but do not receive such important information ?
    3) While opening the account, why did your marketing clerk not tell me that the Rs.5000 avg minimum balance is subject to change ?

    When I went to the branch, I was told by your representative at front desk that they can reverse two of my QAB charges if I buy gold from ICICI in exchange ?? Ridiculous !!

    I am told that this works as there has been several similar complains against ICICI in the last 2 years.

    मेरा नाम विकास है मैने एक बचत खाता सेंट्रल बैंक ऑफ इंडिया की छत्तीसगढ़ कालेज शाखा रायपुर में खोला हुआ था, मिनीमन बैलेंस के मद में, बिना मुझे कोई जानकारी दिये, विगत कुछ वर्षों से मेरे अकाउण्ट में रकमें डेबिट की जाती रही है और इस वर्ष मार्च 2010 में जब मैं अपने पासबुक को अपडेट कराने गया तब ही मुझे पासबुक देखकर पता चला कि मेरे खाते की प्राय: समस्त जमा राशि बैंक के अधिकारियों द्वारा हड़प कर ली गयी है जो रकम शेष बची थी उसके लिये भी बैंक के अधिकारी द्वारा लगभग धमकी देते शब्दों का इस्तेमाल करते हुए कहा कि एक हजार जमा करा दो वरना इसी माह आपका बचत खाता बंद कर दिया जायेगा।
    मैनें इसकी शिकायत बैंक के उच्चाधिकारियों को ईमेल द्वारा की है लेकिन वहॉं से कोई किसी प्रकार का जवाब नहीं आया है।
    उपरांत मैनें दो बार रिजर्व बैंक के बैंकिंग ओम्बड़समैन को भी, सेंट्रल बैंक को की गयी प्रथम शिकायत के निश्चित अवधि, एक माह के पश्चात ईमेल द्वारा भेजी है वहॉं से भी अब तक कोई जवाब नहीं आया है।
    क्@या बैंकिंग ओम्बड़समैन ढकोसला है ?
    वहां से कम से कम यह जवाब तो उम्मींद की जा सकती है कि मेरे द्वारा की गयी शिकायत जायज/नाजायज है।
    सेंट्रल बैंक ऑफ इडिया छत्तीसगढ़ कॉलेज ब्रॉंच रायपुर में भाई भतीजावाद व्याप्त है अत: इस बैंक के उच्चाधिकारी भी कोई शायद दूध के धुले नहीं होंगे अत: कोई जवाब उनके यहॉं से नहीं आया है लेकिन रिजर्व बैंक के बैंकिंग ओम्बड़समैन भी इस बैंक के क्रियाकालापों पर पर्दा डाल रही है और बैंक कस्टमर को वाजिब नहीं दे रही है ?
    आश्चर्य है ।
