Dear Sir,

I deposited a cheque worth Rs 33437.00 into my IDBI account in the month of June; however after the clearing of the aforementioned cheque my account balance only amounted upto 30327.00. I gave a call to the customercare and they explained me that a amount of Rs 3110.00 has been deducted from my account on behalf of non-maintainance of average quarterly balance.

I would like to bring to your notice that at the time of opening of aforementioned account, I was told that this a/c is a student account and hence there is no average quarterly balance that I need to maintain. Also in my monthly statement received on e-mail for the month of May, my account balance as of 31/05/2009 is being shown as 0.0 and if there was a negative balance to my account, the same would have reflected.

To further support that these deductions are invalid I would like to inform you that that my a/c was opened in the year of 2005 and such charges were never deducted from my a/c even though I have never maintained the so called average quarterly balance. Also if there was a change in the bank policies or my a/c status on a later date, this wasn't communicated to me.

I have been following up on this since last 2 months i.e. I have written many a mails and have given multiple calls to IDBI customer care but all in vain. I also visited the concerned branch today and the branch manager without even listening to the complete issue said that he can't do anything.

This deduction has led me to quite a trouble as it was my plan to clear all my dues with this amount, hence would request you to please look into this and take an action as appropriate for early reversal of the amount.
