Hi,I just recently moved to Bangalore and was taking a stroll on the 18th of September 2011 at 8:30pm near Jayadeva flyover when I was mugged, beaten n robbed of my gold chain and wallet containin my ICICI credit card, ICICI debit card, Citibank credit card, Kotak debit card and my PAN card.I immediately contacted police. I also contacted ICICI credit card (my credit card was linked to my savings account and hence to my debit card) and told him about the chain and wallet robbery to which he blocked my credit card only. I was disturbed then and was receiving calls from the police while blocking card and hence was unable to think straight. Also, even though I remember my credit card number, I dont remember my debit card number nor do I remember my bank account number (I use NetBanking to extract the number). He blocked only my credit card. Then I called Citibank and again went through the IVR and blocked my CITI credit card. I, then answered few police calls who arrived at the scene and I gave them a brief description of the incident and then since I hadn't explicitly requested blocking the ICICI debit card by going through the bank/ debit card IVR, called them back again to block that after I started receiving fraudulant purchase sms'es. The care executive confirmed 4 transactions by the robbers amounting to a total of Rs. 17,394.00. The executive and the sms were not able to give me the exact store locations. Otherwise, I with the police would have immediately nabbed the robbers. Now, by the time the bank gave me the addresses of the stores, the CCTV footages were cleared by the mall.I have three questions:1) I wasnt late communicating the robbery to the bank and police, infact I managed to block my credit cards on time.. do we not have even a small buffer time to go through IVRs and complain (remember, I have multiple cards)?2) Had I got the store locations on time, I was with the police and we would have nabbed them3) How safe is our cards in others' hands? Do you not even verify or validate a transaction? atleast the signature?I was not late reporting and hence I want to claim the amount. Thanks.Regards,Vijay Hegde09160008811

Thanks but I am still awaiting your call. Alternatively, I am also taking the case with the bank and was told to send a snailmail to the Debit Recon department based in Mumbai along with a copy of the FIR. However, being a postal letter, it would take time. I want to expedite the process to be able to financially stabilize myself. So please call as soon as possible. Thanks.
