I opened two 3 in 1 savings account in HDFC bank at Matunga East
branch. I want to open another saving account in my wife's name. I
submitted all the required documents like xerox of ration card which
contains the name of my wife my children names & me as a head of the
family,wife's pancard xerox, her photo, she also signed specimen
signature & on the application. The two signatures were made in front
of the executive who came to my house. I issued a cheque of Rs. 6000/-
with my signature as I have account in the same branch.My cheque was
not accepted by the executive since it was "third party cheque" &
insisted on cheque of my wife's account in any other bank.(This
reduces the work of tallying the signatures.) My wife do not have an
account in any bank. So I was asked for "marriage certificate " which
will prove that she is my wife & her name is also authentic. I was
told by the manager of the branch that the 'introduction' to open
account is no more in the process. I also asked the manger if she can
prove if she is the daughter of her father. She was breathless for
moment but then said at times we have to ask for marriage certificate
which is valid govt. document. (This means the documents they asked
for & I submitted are not valid govt documents)

We will now have to suggest our finance minister & govt.to issue
marriage certificate with photos of husband & wife .The photos also
should be endorsed by govt.

So folks, do not be afraid if any banker ask you for the proof of you
being son of your father. Be prepared. Soon the american culture
will "eat up" indians. Act fast to avoid this.

HAPPINESS OF BEING AN INDIAN CAN NEVER BE ACHIVED ANYWHERE IN THE
WORLD.

I have couriered my complaint to MD of HDFC bank. Reply is awaited
