I have got my dues from abroad in October 2008 and the same was sent directly to my account in Allahabad bank . I have received the first payment on Oct 29 and again there was another payment on Nov3rd 2008. I have asked the manager about the source of the second payment and she said it was also from abroad. After that I have visited hundreds of times to the bank. Suddenly yesterday, i.e. on May 5th 2010 ( after one and half years) the bank has deducted the amount which was credited second time stating that it was by mistake done by the bank . They have not given any intimation/ letter regarding that deduction ( which is in lakhs) and hence my balance went to negative and now they are asking to pay the remaining money. Can a bank deduct the amount just like that whenever they want? Then what is the security if we invest in a bank. I suppose as per RBI norms it is not allowed for a Bank to deduct from the individual account. They can block the amount if advised by the court but they are not supposed to deduct the amount. Can anybody give the clear information regarding RBI guidelines on this issue. What is the bank doing for 1 and 1/2 years. What about the auditing in the bank? Who will be held responsible in this? Is the bank punishable under law? Is the bank manager ( the then manager and the present manager) also punishable under law? Since there were many plans for me based on this money, I am at a huge loss now and mentally depressed. Can I sue the bank?
