Subject:-Illegal Deduction of amount from my Citibank Account Number 5301548224 in respect of P.K.Pandey-complaint-regarding.

Dear Sir/Madam,

With due respect, I wish to inform you that I had a Saving cum ATM Bank Account bearing Account Number 5301548224 and the balance in my account was Rs 5400 (Rupees Five Thousand and Four Hundred) Approximately. Due to some Financial Problems, I was not in a position to continue with the same. As advised by Citibank Phone Officer on 17th September, 2009 telephonically, I submitted an application for the closure of my said account permanently on 18th September, 2009. A copy of the same is enclosed herewith for your kind information.

Sir, I received a Demand Draft Number 350079 dated 25th September, 2009 for Rs 2218:66 (Rupees Two Thousand Two Hundred Eighteen and Paise Sixty Six Only) accordingly issued by the Citibank, Connaught Circus, New Delhi and a copy of the same is enclosed. On enquiry from the Citibank Phone Officer about this illegal deduction of amount from my account on its closure/cancellation, it was informed that amount was deducted due to non-maintenance of minimum balance in the said account. One should have to keep at least Rs 10,000/- in his/her account as minimum balance, informed the Citibank phone officer. Actually, I was not informed by any means (either Phone/E-mail/letter) about their so-called maintaining minimum balance of Rs 10,000/-. Also, I was not informed by Citibank at the time of opening the Saving Bank Account with Citibank about the maintenance of such a huge amount as a minimum balance.

Sir, I am surprised, pained, mentally & financially disturbed on Citibank’s unlawful decision of deducting the amount without any information on the name of keeping minimum balance in the account and seek justice from your kind self.

Dear Mr. Pandey,

To sort out such kinds of Banking complaints, you will have to send a written complaint to the Head Office of the concerned Bank and wait for the response for near 15 to 20 days. Keep a copy of that letter with you so that if the Bank fails to give you any solution, you can forward your complaint to the Banking Ombudsman.
