Default In the Bus of Corruption

"See, that tall building, Illuminated with Lotus on top, that is of my Boss!"

A straight postured employee of Public Transport Company of one metropolitan city was interacting with me. He was senior enough to get wished by driver and conductor of bus. Carrying some handmade reports of carbon economy and flowcharts, he was all the praise for his
employees but was hard at "Corrupt Senior Officials". I was fortunate enough to share seat with this "Indian."
As the bus was raking a 32 Km stretch he pointed several lapses & irregularities in the modus of operandi of public transport system of the city. At times conductor joined our heart to heart discussions.
Facts & figures were on his lips. Be it fuel consumption. be it per day income, be it salary of employee's or be it cost effectivenss vis-a-vis cost of operation.. he had deeper insight. His vast
experience was enough to give boldness in his voice.
"Do you take Bribe?" As he puzzled, I was required to immediately reframe my penetrating question. "Why don't you take bribe?" and pat comes the reply.. I am not XXXXXXX. (Bastard).
"What is the name of that fellow, whose building you have pointed out?"
After a pause and deep breadth, He is Mr. XXXXXXX. (name hidden). He is class II officer and my co-passenger was class III officer. While replying he cautiously look in to my eyes and finds sense of security
    & maturity.

By now about 16 Km was covered, it already started raining outside and our discussion started heating inside. " See my boss makes at least 1 Lakh illegal income per year".
    "How?"
There are four holy *Yatras* per year in our city and our public transport service ply extra *yatra special* buses or festival special transports.
On such holy ocassions unholy act of corruption breeds!
Expenses incurred for publicity, stall, shade erection, temporary phone line (of Bribe Nigam), conveyance and refreshment of staff is approx Rs. 15000 to Rs. 20000 only. But my affluent corrupt boss and social animal who is close to political executive submits an expense claim of Rs. 40000. It is trend to submit expense claim not below Rs.40000 meaning a straight income of approx. Rs. 25000 per year per festival. Straightaway four festivals make it 1 L per annum. A simple calculation....even ACB can do it, can they? And will they?
"Your Boss must be holy person?"
Yes! That's why he has purchased the property worth Rs. 40 Lakh in the name of his son. His son runs a beer bar in the said property. Wow! Great!
The Indian seating next to me had given clues about
    # Modus operandi of Corruption.
    # Amount involved in illegal transactions.
    # Flow of Black Money
    # His boss ability to get false vouchers from open private market sources and proximity to politicians.

He departed from the bus midway as his stop is midway only. I was travelling from origin to last stop.

    Now our discussion comes.
    # What should we do? What can we do? Can we do something?
    # Should the name of person making 1 L per annum extra inconme be disclosed to Director General Of Police ACB Branch? ( But why such spoon feeding to DGP - Contacting him is
not free of cost - and this high profile(?)
persons can't read postcards, perhaps they read what they want to read.)
    # Can RTI be useful here?

Well at least what I can do in my mere income and *Khun pasine ke Kamai* (bribe free income) is write in my own forums and share with at least one person who will and can read this,
are you reading? Please go ahead.
This is routine case of corruption & may be ACB/ CBI/ CVC/ CAG may not look into it but can we stop discussing corruption and behave as *given ups* like this watchdog agencies? We can appeal to ourselves
$ Employees who have clues about corruption to not to fell prey of corrupt practices & refuse to co-operate with his corrupt boss.......possible but dangerous....subordinate will be humillated /
transfered / demoted etc. Yet we can deveop sense of patriotism and sacrifice for nation. Let Bastards get lessons from such sacrifices.
$ Corporate world, private parties, persons, business world should refuse to give false vouchers or inflated bills. Again dangerous.....he/ they may loose sale...yet we can suggest establishing a system where trader can produce original voucher and appraoch corruption fighting agency in clandestine and complain about his misbehavior and malpractice by "Public Servant".
Well readers keep moving in this forum, keep posting and just think of India. DGP's of ACB are not going to make differences. Look in to their tenure? Did they closed HaftaVasuli when they were in Police? Or did they stopped distributing packets from ACP officers? In India only
a common Indian can bring the change. Burn urself to that. Nobody else is going to help us. We alone have to make difference.
When you board the bus of fighting corruption sure last stop is going to come.
    Say Bye..Bye to corruption and
    Say Hello....to Corruption free India.

Couldn't help responding to this. Last time something like this happened to me was some 6 years back. I refused to pay bribe(I used to pay some money after a fault was repaired. I was not comfortable doing that and decided not to continue doing that). Phone was dead for almost two weeks. Went up to Area Manager. And got it corrected. But believe me after that I my
telephone has never went out of order.

    Hi All,

I am in Mangalore and want to know where to voice my concerns over retailers charging higher than MRP for FMCG items like aerated drinks (cola) and milk/curd. People are charged extra (over and above MRP) for refrigeration.
Since the extra charges are minimal, people do not protest but I cannot
    stand being cheated.

    Please help.
