The Chandigarh police Thursday arrested two lawyers who represent Babbar Khalsa International's India chief and terrorist Jagtar Singh Hawara.

The police booked the two lawyers - Amar Singh Chahal and Sukhwinder Singh - for wrongful confinement, threatening public servants and restricting them from performing their duties.

The case was registered following a complaint made by Burail prison superintendent R.C. Sharma. He claimed that prison warden Mantu Ram was threatened by the lawyers.

The case was registered after the lawyer duo insisted on taking their car inside the prison complex Wednesday while on their way to attend a special court hearing involving Hawara.

Prison officials stopped the lawyers from taking their vehicles inside, citing a high court ruling. The lawyers were asked to park their vehicle in the parking outside the prison complex.

This led to heated arguments between the lawyers and jail officials and the police were called.

Hawara had made a sensational jailbreak from the same prison Jan 21 last year after digging a 108-foot long tunnel along with three others.

He was nabbed by the Delhi Police Jun 8 this year while they were on the trail of those behind the blasts in two Delhi cinema houses May this year.
