A Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader in Himachal Pradesh has been sentenced to six months in prison and fined Rs.20,000 for two cheques bouncing.

A court in Shimla found former BJP spokesperson Baldev Sharma guilty of paying a man two cheques for Rs.10,000 each. Both bounced.

The complainant told the court he had requested Sharma for the money after the cheques bounced, but the BJP leader refused to do so.
