The government is not considering any proposal to restore the right of government employees to strike, which has already been rejected by the Supreme Court.

"No such proposal is under consideration," Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Suresh Pachouri Wednesday said in response to a question in the Lok Sabha.

The government had received a copy of the memorandum submitted by the All India State Government Employees Federation against the Supreme Court judgement on the employee's right to strike.

The federation had demanded that government employees be granted the right to strike either by ratifying relevant conventions of the International Labour Organisation or through the enactment of legislation, Pachouri said.

The apex court's judgement had been challenged and this was pending before the court, he noted.
