The Special Judge for CBI Cases, Patiala convicted accused Nirmal
Singh, TTA working in the office of SDO, Telephones, Jagraon,
Patiala for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs.5000/- from the
complainant for rectifying the meter reading of his telephone. The
accused was sentenced to three years Rigourous Imprisonment with a
fine of Rs.5000/-.

Note: This is an indication that telecom meters are manipulated by
BSNL officials. At Nagpur, Area Manager Rural (Yash Panhekar)
manipulated illegqal phones and calls at the behest of CMD. No
action was taken against him. He also accepted bribe 26 times in one
year.

BSNL CMD is protecting him due to reverse bribe revenue sharing
aggremment in BSNL.
