my name is garima khandelwal and i am a HSBC debit card holder for a savings account.
on saturday, 6th june i last used my card and possibly dropped it, on 7th june, the card was misused and swiped off Rs. 50, 000 in 3 hrs at 9 different stores.
i have lodged a FIR of section 420 and the police is verifying the case.
But the bank has said the liability is all of the customer in case of a debit card. From one of the shops where the person bought a 20,000 phone, i also have a copy of the payslip where in the signature is not even trying to be a copy of my signature.
If the signature on the payslips do not match, and in this case, do not even matter...how can I be liable? this debit card does not have a pin verification, which means its as good as carrying cash?
