    Default ATM debit card

    Dear Sirs
    Ref: S.B. A/c No. 04111130021051 – DEBIT CARD
In the first week of December 2010, I had received a request for enhancement of my HDFC debit card to Easyshop Gold Debit Card with some additional benefits. I had agreed for the change. After about 15 days, say mid December, 2010, I received a telephone call from DHL courier service saying that they have got one envelope containing Debit Card from HDFC Bank which cannot be delivered to my office (I am working with JP Morgan) because of incomplete address, say floor number, wing number etc.
I offered to furnish my complete office address but unfortunately the DHL courier personnel informed me that the address details should be given by HDFC Bank only and not from me. When I confronted them then why should they call me, they should ask details from HDFC Bank.
During Christmas, end December 2010, I went to withdraw some cash from the ATM machine stationed near my residence at Mira Road. When I inserted my debit card I got a message that my debit card has been confiscated since I have been issued a new Gold Debit Card.
Next day I went to the nearest HDFC bank branch at Mira Road (East), met the Bank Manager Mr Joshi and informed him what had happened. He directed me to one Mr Chirag, an officer at the HDFC Bank, Mira Road. I met Mr Chirag who asked me to give an application to get my debit card from HDFC’s Mind Space Malad branch to Mira Road branch. So I did. I met Mr Chirag again today (10.01.2011) and told him that I still have not received my Debit Card. He showed me an email proof sent to Mind Space Malad branch and he is yet to receive a reply. I got a call from Mr Chirag in the evening today that he checked with Mind Space branch once again and that Malad branch has not yet taken any action on the request. I thank Mr Chirag who deserves to be appreciated for all his efforts.
In the meantime, I have applied for change of address (residence address) for future corresponsence, which has been favourably complied with, within 3-4 days time. Now I request HDFC Bank to send me the Debit Card without any further delay at my residence address. I request a senior officer of HDFC Bank to take action against the errant employee responsible for such a delay.
Elaborating on this, I would like to bring to your notice that –
    - While opening savings bank corporate accounts of employees of Corporate Houses like J.P.Morgan, the HDFC Bank representative should take complete address of the employee from the Organisation.
    - HDFC Bank representative should meet the employee and ask the preference of mailing address, i.e., office address or residence address. Since I have permanent night shifts in JP Morgan, I prefer my residence address for mailing correspondence.
    - HDFC Bank should not confiscate old debit card unless they are sure of receiving (not issuing) new debit card at the customer end.
    - Utmost care and speedy service should be given under such an eventuality where a debit card has been returned and action should be taken within 2 days of complaint.
    - Better service would enhance HDFC bank’s business, which the share holders as well as management and employees would benefit.
    - Customer satisfaction with a zeal should be the motto of every employee whether he/she is a bank employee or otherwise. The more customer is happy, the more business to the organisation, the more profit, the more salary.
    - Valuable time and money can be saved and unnecessary correspondence can be avoided if such things do not recur.
Hoping to receive my debit card at the earliest within a month at least, since I applied.
    With regards
