While checking on Account Statement online on the 7th of July i noticed that on the 4th of July there was an ATM withdrawal of Rs. 3000 from my account. This withdrawal was made from a Non - HDFC Bank ATM in Golpark.

I couldn't remember make any such withdrawal on Sunday (4th July). I was extremely surprised and tried to rack my memory regarding any such transaction. I am certain there were none. I also happen to recall that last month, i.e. in June there was a similar withdrawal of rs.1500 from a non-HDFC Bank ATM in Golpark!

I called customer services and asked them 3 simple questions:

1. What ATM was the withdrawal made from?
2. Were the two withdrawals made from the same ATM/ Same Bank?
3. Can i get video footage of the time when the withdrawals were made?

The answer to all 3 questions were negative. The couldn't tell me what ATM it was, whether it was the same ATM or not and they of course couldn't arrange for video footage because its a non HDFC bank ATM.

Now i an unable to understand if HDFC bank is dispensing money via other banks should it also not be responsible of the security of its customer's money and interests. If they cannot provide support when money in withdrawn from a Non HDFC ATM, then people should me made aware to proceed at their own risk!

My attempts to reason with the "customer service" people have failed miserably.

Please can you take this up on my behalf and help address the issue.

As the transactions you refer to were carried out at non-HDFC Bank ATMs, we may not have access to all information, but we will definitely try and investigate the matter further. Request you to write to us at talktous@hdfcbank.com with your ATM debit card number and the date and time of the disputed transactions. Please also include the reference id TTU00070908072010 in the subject line of your email. A bank representative shall contact you as soon as we receive this information.
