I hope posting this would really help not only me but also others.
Oman Air is the worst airline in terms of customer service. I recently booked a return ticket online for my aged parents from Bangalore to Muscat. The ticket got printed with the seat numbers with the status as confirmed. On the day of travel, when my parents reached the airport to board the flight they were in for a rude shock, Oman Air told them that this was merely a reservation and there was no ticket number. We were informed that the bank had not funded the ticket. When I called up the bank they had no answer to this. The result the 70 years old were made to wait at the counter for next 2 hours and asked to pay the amount in cash and were seated on the last seat.
Having contacted Oman Air I found that they do not have any system to inform their online customers of their transactions. We were very shocked at this attitude inspite of calling the airline call centre (oh it is a nightmare) immediately after booking the tickets.
On the other hand I had made the payment equivalent to the ticket amount to my credit card account the same morning I booked the tickets online. I had paid the money in the morning around 10:00am and used my credit card in the evening around 5:00pm for the transaction, When I contacted the bank regarding the non payment thay told me that the money would be credited only at the day end. I was shocked beyond words that at the age of real time banking, online banking the so called international bank was waiting for the day end to credit the CASH to my account having paid at the bank's counter.
These so called Banks and airlines are misusing the trust consumers place on them but they should realise that this would not help them sustain their business nor retain their customers.
