SpiceJet Thursday announced launch of an online hotel reservation service for its customers as a part of its long-term strategy to increase its non-passenger revenue shares.

"SpiceJet has taken this initiative with the help of Yatra online travel services to provide a list of about 100 hotels for room reservation at 13 destinations covered by our airline," Siddhanta Sharma, chairman SpiceJet said.

The list of destinations include Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Pune, Ahmedabad, Goa, Jammu, Katra, Varanasi and Srinagar.

"Apart from SpiceJet customers any other person can also use these services for online hotel reservation by logging on to - hotels.SpiceJet.com," he added.

"Those making hotel reservations through this website could avail of discounts ranging from 15 to 30 percent depending upon the season, location and certain other factors," Dhruv Shringi, co-founder, Yatra Online Pvt Ltd said.

Last year, SpiceJet earned 4.5 percent of its Rs.4 billion (US$90 million) from ancillary activities.

"With the help of this new hotel reservation service and certain other projects which are in pipeline, our objective is to increase share of non-passenger revenue to about seven percent during the current year," Sharma said.
