I had booked a flight ticket from Vadodara to Delhi scheduled to depart on 26 th Nov, 2009 at 9:45 a.m.
A 7:47 a.m, I received a message from the airline service that the flight has been delayed and will now depart at 10:30 a.m. Again, at few minutes past 9, they sent an intimation that the flight has been further delayed and will now depart at 11:15 a.m. The third notification, which came at around 11:30 a.m, conveyed that the flight would finally depart at 12:47 p.m.
It's the airlines' policy to refund entire charges if the flight is delayed by more than 3 hours from its scheduled departure.

Having received the second last notification, I gave them a call to cancel my tickets;they said that the ticket has to be cancelled 2 hours before the scheduled departure.
I received a notification about the delay at 7:47 a.m , how am I supposed to cancel the ticket 2 hours before the scheduled departure i.e. 9 45 a.m? All the more, when they sent the first notification, the flight was expected to depart at 10:30; it was not a problem for me (the purpose of my travel would still have been solved); it was only when I received the second message that the flight would not depart before 11:15 a.m, I decided to cancel the tickets.

I told the above to one of their call center executives who replied that notification delays happen every once in a while and it is the fault of the operations division of the airline. I,thereby, inquired that am I not entitled for full refund as it was a fault on airlines' part. He said "NO", one has to cancel the ticket two hours before the scheduled departure.
Now, how would that have been possible ? I lost more than 6000 bucks over nothing.

    Discontented customer,
    Yash Singh
