LG Electronics India unveiled its latest range of commercial air-conditioners Friday to target households and small businesses in 2006.
Called the multi power systems (MPS) range, the air-conditioners have been introduced in five models - from five tons to 12.5 tons cooling capacity with an aim to grab a market share of 33 percent in India's air conditioning industry by 2006.
The models are expected to cost between Rs.35,000 and Rs.40,000 ($800-910) per ton, officials from the South Korea-headquartered consumer electronics major said here.
"The sheer size and potential of the Indian commercial air-conditioning market has prompted us to introduce the best possible product that advanced technology has to offer," said Hwan-Yong Nho, president, LG's global air conditioning division.
MPS technology works on multiple compressors incorporated in a single condensing unit that will operate through electronic controls to ensure that it runs according to heat load requirements, Nho said.
This translates to up to 46 percent energy saving and high reliability compared to conventional commercial air conditioners, he added.
"With this launch, we plan to achieve business of Rs.2.5 billion ($57.5 million) annually in this segment by 2006," said Bijo George, product head for the division.
