Please note that the major complaint during my car service in July 2009 was
the ineffective cooling of the AC. This complaint had been a regular case
during my earlier service visits as well. Each time, my driver was assured
that the gas has been re-filled or the fan has been repaired etc. I was too
busy with my business botherations & so took out my frustration on my driver
instead of personally talking to the service technicians. Finally, during
the July service, I put my foot down & demanded that my AC be replaced under
warranty. My driver came home with the car after the service & shocked me
with the service bill raised upon me.
I was charged Rs. 11,000 approx towards Condenser & Rs. 2000 approx towards
AC Gas Charge. The next morning first thing I did was test drive the car
myself. The AC did not start cooling untill 20 mins of running. Even the
interior lights over front & rear seats were not working. This problem did
not exist when the car went for servicing. I was thankfull to my 1 year old
son due to whom I found out this problem. He was always fascinated on
watching the lights work & I playfully switched them ON to make him happy,
only to realize the careless workmanship of the service people at skoda.
I immediately informed the local dealership people including Mr. Pattnaik at
9777942600 regarding the continued AC problem & the new light problem! I was
told to send back the car or service which I was very unhappy on hearing as
I was too busy to attend to such issues. Unfortunately, I could not get time
to re-send the car for service, as usually the car could only go for service
until it was very unavoidable and I was out of station for a couple of days.
Finally, I had to leave for Kerala on a week long holiday after diwali &
thus sent my car for servicing with strict instructions of AC & Light repair
alongwith some denting etc work. Surprisingly, even after 8-9 days, my car
service was not attended / completed. I tried calling the service point
(including Mr. Pattnaik at 9777942600) many times but could not get through
either due to No Reply or Cell not reachable?! Thus, I sent an SMS on
31-10-2009 requesting Mr Pattnaik to complete my car servicing by 2-11-2009
as I was facing lot of problem without my car. Upon getting NO RESPONSE from
anybody, I had to personally go to the dealer point on 2-11-2009 and met Mr.
Ali (Service manager) asking him on why I was being harassed so much?
I was shocked to discover that neither my AC was attended nor my interior
light was repaired!? I again requested him to replace my AC & repair my
interior light under warranty immediately and deliver my car within 24
hours. I handed him my visiting card & requested him to inform me on my cell
upon completing my service. But again, No contact was made with me and I was
kept waiting. Finally, I called Ali and enquired about my car. I was told
that AC work will be only done during next service & rest everything is
complete. I requested him & Pattnaik to allow my driver to take delivery of
the car and assured them that I will study & pay the bill within the next 24
hours. Surprisingly, I was refused a simple credit of less than 24 hours on
vague account related grounds. Upon obtaining the new bill, I found that I
have been exorbitantly charged for electrical filters, synthetic oil, repair
works, part costs, etc.
My grievance is the manner of service rendered to me & the harassment given
to me. Also, the reason why my AC was left unattended & why not replaced on
the first instance itself. It is common knowledge that skoda AC give jitters
during the first year run itself and even my brothers skoda AC was replaced
shortly after much resistance! Who is responsible for the light fault during
the service? Why have I been so exorbitantly charged on the spare parts and
whats the rationale behind changing the engine oil etc only after 7500 km
run? Hats the rationale behind charging me for small things like door
adjustment etc & why were these things left unattended during the July
service? Why was I embarrassed with refusal on a car handing over credit
period?
I await answer to all the above questions & wait to live with my worst
humiliating experience from Mahavir Skoda. The dealerships indifference will
force me to go deep into the cars service history and discover other
possible abnormalities as well as discover my legal options.
