I WAS using the Airtel broadband service. When I moved house, I had raised a request with customer care for transfer (Sept 26 2011) and my connection was promptly discontinued as per procedures. I waited 20 days, followed up many time, but there was no action in spite of the numerous assurances that i got. Finally on 18th Oct, as I need to get on with my routine, I cancelled the connection and got a new connection from BSNL. Surprisingly that was quick (for PSU standards) and I had a new connection the next day. I paid my outstanding dues (including the period when I didnt have a connection) and was expecting that to be the end of it.
I got a call on 20th Oct from the "Retention Team" by a lady, who was in such a hurry (probably was in a hurry to use the green house of easement). I explained to her that i do not wish to continue the connection as i now have a new connection. She thanked and disconnection.
The next month, to my surprise, I have a new bill from Airtel, AT MY NEW ADDRESS. So atleast someone did his/her work promptly and updated my address. Being a good citizen, I called the customer center to appraise them of the mistake and to reduce the amount under liability in their books. I got passed around, was put of hold till i memorized the Airtel tune and finally landed on the escalation desk.
The guy informed me and i quote "the "SYSTEM" says I want to continue the connection". I explained that its a huge mistake, told him to long story and expected him to understand that the mistake was made by the lady at the "retention center". Again I quote "The SYSTEM does not lie". So i asked, are you saying that i am lying. He remembered his basic etiquette training and ignored the question. Stand off and no progress.
I decided that maybe calling and speaking is not the best way to communicate, as emotions of someone calling you a liar can get the better of you and therefore sent a mail to the tribunal on 28th Nov, no response (i am ignoring the acknowledgement as a response with ref number 7959540) again on 6th Dec, no response and finally again today. I am expecting only the acknowledgement. A new inkling prompted me to try the latest and third medium THE INTERNET, where everythings available so I am check if some help is also available here
